• Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Quickplate V-Lock Battery module ready to ship

It doesn't seem like a complicated part... Not sure why they're perennially on back order. Maybe more to them than it seems. They ARE a great piece of kit, I'd almost say a must have, but I'd have thought they could have made enough of them for every Epic/Scarlet on the planet by now.

Does anyone know the wiring spec/pinout of the 2 pin 0B lemo sockets for the Quickplate V-lock module?

Update:
Not to worry think I found the answers I need:

- Pin 1 is ground
- Pin 2 is +12v constant (11.5v-17v)

- 3.8 amps total and the ports are active if a battery is present even if camera is off.

Don't suppose anyone has the dimensions of how far the module adapter & quick plate module stick out from the rear of the camera when used together?
Just trying to get a comparison to the current v-lock plate i have attached at the moment.
It's a shame we have to use a module adapter to put before this quick plate.

Roughly:

Adapter + Quickplate V = 1 5/8" from rear
vs.
W C V = 1 1/8" from rear

Adapter + Quickplate V + 130wh = 3 5/8" from rear
vs.
W C V + 130wh = 3 1/8" from rear

and it add some weight...

An adapter for an adapter is not the best design , it would be much better if it was designed like the redvolt xl plate.

It is very nice not to need the lemo dc cable, which always manages to snag on something at the worst moment when running around forests or war zones.

Many thanks for the size and comparison.
I wonder if we will ever see a quick plate v-lock without the need of adapter?
Not sure why it can't happen.

I really like the idea of being able to power through the brain connection (no lemo), but really hate the $300+$775 price to do so (or $1050 + 775 if you use the +1)... Especially since I have had a v-mount plate for years (since the quick plate V came out a few years after the camera). That said, it is a sleek looking rig and is very quick to connect/disconnect if you actually use modules. To be fair, there's really only two modules -- ProIO & Broadcast Module -- and Broadcast is Dragon only apparently (which is kind of lame). That said, it still must sell well since it's always backordered.

If they made a backplate reverse-able like the XL Plate, it'd make sense... However, if they make a Quickplate-V that fits directly into the brain, it'd have to use the m4 holes, and effectively make quickly swapping modules impossible (as you'd have to constantly screw/unscrew and no other modules have the four m4 bolts in them.) End of the day, it isn't the best design, but there's nothing we can really do about it (largely due to RED not allowing 3rd parties to use their module-adapter connection thing -- the lip at the top with two knobs on the bottom -- without paying a fee).

I would go for the +1 instead of the adapter module as the +1 actually brings on some features where as the adaptor module kind of only adds weight... But there is one feature that the adaptor module actually has, which is space inside of it... Not sure we are aloud to be in there but still. :)

I want a Wifi-enabled Module Adapter for the same $300 price... Two birds with one stone, that is... and it'd easily fit in there, and be powered via the camera... If anything that's the biggest benefit of a modular design; it allows you to tack stuff on that wasn't originally anticipated.

If you have reason to run the EVF and Redtouch simultaneously the +1 is handy... but it is pretty expensive too.

Making a quickplate v-lock with the same reversible backplate like there is on the XL plate would be perfect.
Everyone has different needs so that option would be perfect. Save weight, save length.

Perhaps we could get some +1 love for a Quickplate V-Lock Battery Module V2 that has RED’s reversible SWITCH PLATE design that allows the battery module to be mounted directly to the camera brain or another module.
Would anybody be interested in that?
It would make the camera body very sleek and tidy. Less weight plus overall length.

Yes! A thousand times yes!

Can't believe a solution still doesn't exist for this. And I mean a solution with reasonable price/performance and doesn't require switching to an entirely different battery system...

Hopefully Red will hear our +1 calls for an update Quickplate V-Lock Battery Module.
