  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Quickplate V-Lock Battery module ready to ship

As I said earlier, ordered because it is an awesome piece of gear, and I'll also do anything to eliminate as many cables as possible to have a slick looking camera, yet I still wish for a design that could allow for the mount to hung really low, at bottom of camera, so that when the V-Lock battery is in place would be at the same hight of the actual body and not stand so tall over it... ;)
I know what you mean, but then you would probably have issues when needing to plug SDI and HDMI cables in the back of the camera... Even with the VF battery mount, I had to find HDMI cables with low profile connectors in order to be able to plug them in without interfering with the power cable. At least, with this new power module, this issue will be gone.

Regarding the D-Tap question, most of my accessories are using D-Tap cables, so I'll have to buy / make new cables too. But I guess it's a good thing, it's true that you can very easily plug those D-Taps the wrong way, which may have very bad consequences on some devices.
And for those situations where you absolutely need a D-Tap out, a lot of batteries have D-Tap power outs included on the battery (saved my ass many times !), and otherwise I guess it should be pretty easy to make a LEMO to female D-Tap cable, just in case.

Jarred, when you say 3.9 Amps max, is it like 1.8 A max per LEMO out, or can you balance it as you wish, like 3 A and 0.9 A for example ?
Also, is there a pinout somewhere for these lemos so we avoid any mistakes ?

Ok so... we need "The 2-PIN 1B LEMO-TO-FLYING LEAD CABLE" avaiable in the store so we can build the cables we need for our accessories.

Ok so...we need a Right Angle...90 Deg..."The 2-PIN 1B LEMO-TO FLYING LEAD CABLE" so the cable isn't getting constantly bent sticking straight out from the camera.

Also for all those D tap lovers out there, just get one of these things :

A whole bunch o d tap and sandwiches between batt and camera v mount. See the AB version all the time on Alexas. Alexa also has no d tap on the camera although I think part of that is it never was really a 12v camera and any 12v batt is going to be kicked in the balls under the heavy draw of the camera, they didn't want to encourage even more power draw.

You're right, 90 degree cable is an excellent idea.

Its not about hate or love. Its about access and availability.

I ordered a 2-pin cable two moths ago at the RED store that I am still waiting on.
My Bomb Squad rep had no clue where else I could get a 2-pin.

Just saying. ///

Teradek is a good place to look for stock cables , But 2 pin lemo for 12v Aux out seems to have caught on as the connector of the week in a market that doesnt seem to really want to pick on a standard.. so we are landing on the 2 pin as going forward and it seems like most other companies have done the same and hopefully we don't need to change it again next year :)
