  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Questions..?

Dear Jarred,

Thank you ever so much for all of your hard work. I really, really appreciate this
"Questions" thread as I have not been able to make it to NAB this year.

I believe you and your efforts in Digital Cinema will be remembered.............for ever!

You and Jim are my Digital Cinema Heroes. I love my Epic-X!

:)

Dear Sir, Thanks for ur answer. There is a question in every r1 owners mind is there will be any sensor upgrade for r1 in future.
can be silly. Plz consider the price is dropping down day by day and how many R1 sold by RED after epic release.

You are saying it like he hasn't already...
Almost 100% refund on your camera AND a huge discount on the new Epic. You can not be seriously asking for more...

Peter
I bought used R1.

Then You should talk to the original owner. He got all the benefits and offers. Just don't say Jim is not taking care of RED ONE owners...

Peter[/QUOT
I know Jim is doing more than that.

Based on earlier comments I have a feeling this has already crossed their minds, but one has to be careful with how many "rear facing" modules are designed... you can only have one in the chain and you restrict the use of other terminating devices like the REDMOTE. Of course you could clamp a REDMOTE somewhere else, but that means it won't be getting charged... and the battery life of the 'mote is pretty limited as it is. Mostly, though, I'm curious what such a module would net you besides a minor amount of length (which would be negated with the use of an XL battery). Not criticizing, just curious.

Häakon - I appreciate Your feedback. Actually the size is reduced dramatically. You could end up with about the same depth as with the dual module - which does not take the XL batteries - only the quad does and that one is huge. Also You will overcome the problem where installing the XL battery on the left side will prevent ejection of the SSD. Such a module would be the smallest possible allowing the use of both normal and XL batteries...

About the REDMOTE - I find the battery sufficient for a day's shooting - if you use the REDMOTE only when you really need it. I see people using the REDMOTE...
But every problem has a solution - such a module could have a powered dock for the REDMOTE on either left or (preferably) right side, which could charge the REDMOTE...

Jarred? Any "hehehe"?

don´t know if the question was raised already but will the Meizler Module work with Remote Focus Systems like CMotion or Arri WRC and the common motors like Heden or ARRI CLM ?

thanks
Manuel

Next build will also have " Target Redcode " where you set your target and it will get as close to it as possible. This allows you to switch to a higher framerate, shoot at maximum redcode, then switch back to a normal frame rate and it will automatically jump back to that target. No more " damn switched back to 24fps and left it at 12:1 "

WOOP! Nice one guys. I know I bugged you guys about this, and I know I was probably just a voice in the choir, but it feels special when your little problem get the treatment.

Love it :)

Threads like these are a huge part of the reason I bought an Epic-X. All by itself the camera was the best combination of price and specs, but to have constant Firmware upgrades for free and little niggly issues sorted out on a regular basis is simply incredible.

Pretty much every single thing I can think of to improve the day to day function of my camera has been mentioned and addressed in this thread.

I want to extend my sincere thanks to everyone at Red, you guys are quite simply the best company I have ever dealt with.

Great announcements Red, congrats on all the late nights and long weekends, your hard work surely shows.

I have a few questions:

REDRAY PROJECTOR
- could you please fill us in on how the RedRay Projector will be upgradable to theatre size screens and what sort of cost is projector for a Theatre version of the Projector
- does the projector really use RRP's as the lens and will one be included in the cost
- I see only 2 x HDMI inputs on the photos of the projector in the glass case at the show... will the production units have HDSDI input?
- If the projector is to be run in 2D only will you still need a 3D silver screen?
- Will the projector upres incoming 1920x1080 content?

RED WIRELESS VIDEO MODULE
- when will it be shipping and what is the price point?

SIDE HANDLE
- when will the side handle issues be address with batteries falling out?

REDCINE X PRO
- Please tell me you're working on a LINUX version with Red Rocket on Linux too
- any change of a 6k compatible thunderbolt RedRocket box

512GB SSD
- what is the price point and availability of these?

iPad EPIC CONTROL APP
- when is this coming out as wasn't it shown at last years NAB?

Again, great work guys... what progress and amazement since I picked up #68 back in 2007.

The best thread, Thank You for taking the time to answer our questions.
My priority would also be the power management with the Scarlet, but I also have a question that wasn't asked:

Possibility to flip the image vertically on the touch screen. Is that in the works?

Some amazing insights coming out of this thread, what a ride being a RED owner is.

Also, i just want to chime in again on POWER MANAGEMENT lol as it seems our requests are starting to make a little difference..

WOW!

Its unbelievable what you guys are doing! Your technology, the upgrade-programms, the updates, listening, ...... and on the biggest event of the year you find the time to keep us leftovers who countn't make it informed!

Thank you soooo much!
I was only once at NAB helping IRIDAS with Demos. I can only assume how busy your booth must be!

So dont forget to drink delicious Schnaps and sleep! You have a entitlement to a reward! ;-)
Have a great time!
cheers,
Hilmar

$1200 upgrade is correct to go from your old Bomb to New Bomb. $900 if you purchased your Old EVF in the last 30 days.

Jarred, my LCOS EVF arrived just last week Thursday. Since I'm still in the 10 day return period... it it possible that I can do the upgrade for the difference of $700?

- If the projector is to be run in 2D only will you still need a 3D silver screen?
Already answered in another thread: no, you don't need a 3D silver screen for 2D viewing.
