  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Questions..?

It would be nice if Red took a few releases now and only focused on reliability and getting the core things rock solid and super stable. So we don't get bugs like the occasional half frames on the LCD when switching from playback mode. And putting in "boring" things like power management and making the SDI-output solid with PsF support etc. Basically just making sure everything that is there now is perfect and stable. Never needing to reboot the camera due to software bugs would be great.

I hear you....

PsF is not on the list. And will likely never be.. because PsF is retarded.

Power management is now a priority... thanks for all the voices on this one.

Thank you Jarred for your time reading and answering this thread. This kind of interaction is one of the many reasons users love Red. I remember seeing "Crossing The Line" when it first hit the web, telling myself "I'll have a Red some day and become a part of the Red family." 5 years later after working very hard I was finally able to purchase my Scarlet. Not an easy investment for me, but one that I know I will never regret. You guys rock. Not just you and Jim, but everyone I've had the pleasure to interact with from Red, I can tell all your crew has a burning passion for what you guys do, and that is exciting to see as a customer. I'm now starting to save for an Epic (or whatever amazing piece of technology you will have in the next few years) I made a thousand dollars at a blackjack table while in Vegas, so that helps a little.

No questions here really. Just a note of appreciation.

Much appreciated.. thanks Ces.

Jarred, my LCOS EVF arrived just last week Thursday. Since I'm still in the 10 day return period... it it possible that I can do the upgrade for the difference of $700?

call your rep :)

Threads like these are a huge part of the reason I bought an Epic-X. .

heh heh if you think you are happy now.. just wait till you see all the stuff I haven't talked about in this thread that is coming :)

FYI. I'm back in LA and upgraded the firmware on my Scarlet X and 5 Epics. Working great. Checked out the new Adobe Photoshop Plugin. Working great. Downloaded and installed the new RedCine-X Pro and Red Player. Working great.

Loving it.

Suggestion for Red Player: Have the ability to import sequences created from RC-X Pro as a playlist. Have that panel be something we can hide/unhide. Perfect for dailies be reviewed on set and at the studio. Several studios I've worked with have proprietary players that do something similar. They also allow metadata notes and whatnot too.

Freshly new, but I can smell the potential!

** edit, sent a PM with a few other ideas.

With the denser Pixels on Dragon, what is the chance of shooting 3K on Super16 Lenses?
I know it depends on the lens, just wanting a ballpark about how much more sensor data is getting crunched down into that Super16 window . . .

I heard before that Dragon is the first sensor of the monstro family,as a photographer that i am i wonder if will you release anytime soon a full frame 24x36mm sensor?

Define soon... :-)

Jim

I would like to chime in here and say that I and probably many others wouldn't have had the possibility to buy an Epic today if there hadn't been an upgrade path for us over a period of time.
Getting my Epic today, on my birthday
Thanks

Jarred,

Couldn't get pass the crowd asking you questions at the show to ask..what's the estimated turn around time for the epic-m upgrade?

Thanks

You will get an estimate in your email notification to send yours in.

I don't think I'll sleep until then. :)

Jarred, just wanted to take a moment and say how much we appreciate and love you guys. What you have done in the past few years has truly changed our lives. It feels so good being a part of the RED family and knowing how good we are being taken care of. I feel safe and can concentrate on making movies. I'm doing exactly what I should be doing.

So, thanks for that. It means the world to me...
