  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

I have three questions:

All this talk of "Scarlet" by end of 2010 (potentially :) ) - however as announced the Scarlet 'branding' covers a range Scarlet 2/3" 8x fixed lens, Scarlet 2/3" interchangeable, Scarlet S35 and Scarlet FF35.

1) Which 'Scarlet/s' will be by end-ish 2010?
2) I guess I'm really asking about S35 & FF35. Are they still planned, and if so what timeframe?

3) Can you pause for a 'loo' break please????

Cheers, Nathan.

Not sure if this has been announced but what is the zoom range for the fixed scarlet?

Another S3D questions:

A. Will the RED-RAY (PRO) support the playback of stereo R3D footage?
B. Can we sync two RAD-RAYs (normal) for the playback of stereo R3D footage?

Of course stereo need a lot of work in post before it can be seen properly, but having real-time HW platform to quickly review the RAW shots will go a long way in any S3D production...

Thanks again

Peter

You can count on 3D support for REDray as above. Stuart will elaborate.

Guys

Ar.e you working with the likes of Apple to get more RED function into FCP, like better support for R3D files, color room, etc?

Thanks

Steve

Can you talk more about the bug?

I know it's not particularly relevant now that it has been fixed, and probably over most of our heads, but I'm interested in it because it sounds like a good story...

Not going to talk about the bug.

Current RED One owner and submitted for stage 2!

Just broke ground on our new facility doing live/studio and really hoping to utilize as many as 12 Epics. I know to ask for release dates are unrealistic. However, being on a deadline with our facility slated to be finished around Feb/Mar of next year is it realistic for us to plan on getting that many Epics?

What's the next Red camera revolution going to be in 5 years? What future capability are you most excited about that is still only an idea bouncing around your cranium?

Since our competitors are finally paying attention... we aren't giving out any future info. But trust me when I tell you we have a lot of stuff lined up.

Sorry, just to ask again about Monstro in case you missed it. I would like to get an idea if the FF Monstro sensor will be on course as it has been approx 6 months since MX and this would mean another approx 6 months until Monstro...if i remember correctly that is. I am asking as a have an MX Red One and singed up for stage 2...but if i am looking at at least a few more months until EPIC with it's MX brain and then only a few months later a FF Monstro brain is here...well i can't afford to then go and buy another brain so soon after. A little information on this would be great, i'm sure you understand where i am coming from. Especially if it was only another 6 months for Monstro and on the same timetable for Scarlet! Now we are talking...FF monstro for Scarlet...

Any even "wishful" ETA (or any progress news for that matter) about the 6x17 28K Epic brain? Are we talking 2011, 2012+ or never...?

Peter

End of 2011 or early 2012. Everything has been delayed unfortunately.

1. Will there be "in-camera" trimming of .R3D's and also assume that it would create a new "trimmed" file that is non-destructive to the orig file.

2. Will there be an "Onion Skin" / Overlay feature for lining up shots for VFX or previous setups and pickups, etc... from either an in-camera EPIC-Still or pre-loaded approved file frame?

3. How is the "Still" side of EPIC coming along? Did the Bug affect that as well?

FF35 Monstro is trailing EPIC S35 by a reasonable amount of time.

Very interested in the Still's side of things. I tend to print around 17"x22", so solid resolution is important. So here it goes:

What model scarlet would compare to a Canon 5DMII (what I use now) in terms of stills resolution and overall quality?

I apologize if I'm asking for a simplistic comparison. But, it would be nice to get a gut level feeling.
