  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

@Jim. How are you health-wise? There was a lot of concern about you around here. I know this is probably not the type of question you meant to have asked but it's sincere.

The RED-RAY PRO player can play back .R3D footage at up to 4K RGB output resolution, and we can Genlock two players for stereo .R3D playback capability.

Thanks Stu! Follow up question - can we sync two RED Rockets for the same purpose? I have noticed a lot of "unused" HW connections on the card that could potentially facilitate this - especially given the pedigree... :sifone:

- It looks like there is a 1/8" audio in on the epic brain, is that correct?

- So the Epic Brain is now bigger to accommodate more "guts", has that had an impact on pricing?

- What about pricing on the accessories- are prices on anything solidified? Are they going up / down / staying the same?

Are you concerned about Scarlet S35 cannibalizing EPIC S35 sales? Aside from increased frame rates why would a new RED customer choose EPIC S35 over Scarlet S35?

I'm not worried about anything except getting these cameras done.

Some pros will not understand why anyone would want to buy S35 Scarlet and many others will not understand why some would spend the extra just for data rates and frame rates. That's why we will make both. Quite frankly... those that make money with their cameras will buy EPIC. The extra capability is cheap if you have a working camera. EPICs will be more "rentable" than Scarlets.

RED RAY 3D

RED RAY 3D

What's the main reason for getting a RED RAY/ RED 4K. I'm getting it regardless, I buy all you're products, but don't fully underderstand why I should buy one

a) The delivered images are amazing, even in downscaled 1080p HD, let alone in full 4K resolution.

b) Encoding is trivial, just drag and drop the finished 4K image files (our magic pixies do all the work)

Stage 2 owner… been with RED since #182. Very excited about the Epic program.

1. With the size increase, what's the approx. weight of an S35 Epic-X with 5" screen, handgrip & battery?

2. What's the current startup time? Will there be a sleep mode (instant wake)?

3. Will Redcode stills import directly into Lightroom? My current library (not counting archives) is around 80,000 stills. Lightroom is the centre of keeping that organized. Please say yes :)

Thanks for taking the time to do this...

Good night from this East coaster.
Thanks Jim and all of you guys at RED for all the hard work. I'm sure it will pay off before long.

I'm OK... thanks for asking. Biggest problem I have is 22 year old thinking in a 60+ year old body.

5K REDCODE at 120fps. Simple. No matter what is said, this is truly a miracle.

Jim

Does Red have any distant future plans to pursue super high-speed frame rates like those approaching what the Phantom or Weisscam are now capable of?

1. Are there any rough projections on how long it will take to complete Stage II?
2. Are there any plans for internationalization options for EPIC (and Scarlet) so that menu systems can be viewed in languages other than English?

Few lens questions:

A. 17-50 is a worthy replacement for the 18-50. Can we expect (and estimated ETA if YES) the same for 50-150?

B. Will the two above light-weight zooms cover the 5K Epic sensor?

C. Any plan for compact range of electronic (RED mount) lenses specifically designed for S3D?

D. Any update on further primes to join the family?

Thank You for Your time and congrats on the bug killing...

 Peter

Just the bump for the above... :sifone:

We haven't heard about it in quite some time, and no doubt it is a long way away, but is Scarlet FF35 Monstro still on track?

Well... that was hectic. It looks like it has finally calmed down. Maybe we can shut this down early tonight?

Jim

Theoretically, could Epic do 1000fps 1080p or 720p or more ? Some of the 1000fps stuff online is just amazing, might open up Epic to a new little niche in the market..

1. We are bad at projections... read Post #1
2. Yes.
