  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

ProLine T2000 steadicam group buy - Part II

Vitaliy, it's not very polite to advertise your product in a group buy thread for a different product.

I am not advertising product, I am informing members who are not sure that to choose, as few of them specially asked to inform about box prototypes. You won't see any of my posts here, as I really wish this group buy to succeed.
Plus you yourself told that power boxes is key difference as you think.

Vitally you advertise no doupt and your excuses are not making this correct either. David is right on this, stay on your thread and post on your thread about all Laing updates, and let people carry on ,on their own interest.
Its very obvious , and its best to apologize and correct, as I did for example when I wrote on your thread by mistake.

I deleted my message. Despite I think that it is unfounded complaints.

For everyoneinterested - uou can find links and information in Laing topic http://www.reduser.net/forum/showth...or-REDusers-lt-1800USD-Post-your-ideas/page36

You just don't get it, do you? Keep the threads separated. You try to sell products of a certain company, without even being a reduser sponsor or openly disclosing in which way your connected with the company, and advertize continuously in a thread for a group buy of a different product.

I deleted my message, and do not intent to post to "your topic". So, keep calm.

is it to late for another feature request on the T2000?
one small but smart thing that seems to be missing in a lot of pro-equipment, especially if it's meant to hire out eventually, is some way to reproduce settings. looked in to the laing design and saw that they put in a scale on the post.. i.e. missed that with the red clutch on the rosettes. on something like a steadycam it would give you the opportunity to get close to the dynamic balance fast by just dialing in the settings you used last time you flew your epic. also communicating about what works and doesn't work for you with the community here on reduser would be much more simple. last but not least; it helps you with adjusting small amounts..

maybe they're there but I just missed them?

None of the scale measurments will ever be needed to a steadicam operator to tune balance a rig. This is a feature that noone in my 14 years of operating including me ever needed to use.
Its also most likely it will wear of anyway after some time. Dynamic balance is hardly achieved using the scale on the post. All the rest of the components placement around the rig, specially the NOT so standard fixed in one possition are the ones you need to pay attention for DB. And those can change possition anythime. Learning the phycics is the way to go.
regards

it looks like the proline case to small for a 9" ikan lcd on the sled?!

Now is the time to add ideas. While it's probably impossible to change something completely fundamental now, I'm sure things like scales can be added. I don't have experiences with scales, but I guess that Constantine is right about them. Anyway, I'll forward it to Luciano.

I always remove my monitors from my cam for transport. If you want to leave the monitor attached, you would probably have to cut out the foam to accommodate it.

about the scales and Constantines remark; yups.. now that I've been looking much closer into how to balance these rigs.. I see his point. Thanks for keeping our focus straight!

something else.. The vest is universal.. how universal? I'm 7 feet tall; I know that is not common and my companion is probably going to do all the heavy lifting anyway but I would like to acquire some skills with the proline as well, if nothing to better understand it's capabilities and limitations so I know where not to use them (=

found some steadicam instruction movies that gave a lot of information. We will invite a very experienced operator once the package reaches Holland, any other good pointers?

There was already an other user worried about the size limitations. Luciano wrote me that it shouldn't be a problem, but that it would be better to contact him to check it. It's possible for ProLine to modify the vest to fit you otherwise.

for 7 feet hehehe you better contact Luciano, I guess there is plenty of adjustment to fit you by the looks of it, but its best if you conttact him and let him know.
No problem glad I can help out, getting an op down in Holland would be a good first step.

Hey guys. I saw some discussion by people on learning how to balance/use these rigs. When I bought my steadicam pilot I bought this book and its been invaluable: http://www.amazon.com/Steadicam®-Op...qid=1364834725&sr=8-1&keywords=Steadicam+book

the principals of the steadicams with regards to static/dynamic balance, low mode, etc. all seem to be the same so this book should be a good source of info. The book also covers in depth all the various ways you fly a rig like this as well as a bunch of exercises to help you learn/ refine your technique.

hope it helps!

Arm on the right, gripping the post with my left hand, gripping the gimbal with my right hand.
I also can operate the opposite way, but not so well, sometimes though I had to switch due to get very close to walls versus direction of walking.
There are many ways of getting round this, but since I could do both, if the shot was simple I switced to feel more confortable.

edit

the book above by Jerry Holloway is something you should all get, it really get you there and explains just about everything you need to know.

Pretty sure thats the same book Winters used when learning his rig... we talk about it a little bit in the Laing overview video. I'm Definitely gonna order...
