I know I carry on about this subject, But it is important subject for people that want instant easy workflow... Even 4k prores would be cool.

As you can see a Uncompresed, PRORES and DNxHD module can me made really small... Black magic can do it...
Would be wonderful if RED can make a small RED version that can give us LOG C or REDLOGFILM but still have REDGAMMA 3 video playing through our onset monitors / Evf's.

Designed to slide onto the back of our EPICs... keeping them lean mean shooting machines. None of us want our small EPICS to grow in size, hence the lower volumes sales on the Meizler and quad battery modules.

I know after older threads on this subject that RED would sell thousands !!!!

Vote with your posts guys... :) Red Will make it if there is a demand.

Mark the Hyperdeck shuttle works for me flawlessly. Why would RED consider making it when BMD are selling this thing for $299 +GST? My whole kit cost $800 +GST including hard mount, 2 x drives and SSD reader ETC

I just stick mine on the end of a noga arm and its works great! You can get a LUT box from several manufacturers and stick that before the monitor and record REDLOGFILM. FILMLIGHT have several solutions.

And your so right....
But I'd love a RED made version.

Tell me more about how you get REDLOGFILM Prores to the deck... but your EVF and touch screen are still REDCOLOR 3...

And does it AUTO RECORD ?

+1

My PIX 240i is great but in reality a boat-anchor...loved this idea from beginning.

A red click on solution would be much better. The shuttle with the cheeseplate is really heavy, needs a power and sdi cable, and doesn't take r3d files names for now, drives have to be formatted on a computer, it makes the camera grow quite alot, and what mark says, no way to record log and view rc3.

mark im totally with you, bring out this thing asap. Dragon is great, meizler is great for big budget films, but this module would be great for nearly everyone!

I agree with Mark, this form would give a huge boost to the Epic and Scarlet.
Red please .......

Agree with mark.
A BM shuttle built into a shell that connects to the pinouts of the brain or other modules, no cables nothing extra. Do actually not care for the red log film stuff if it's not posible as we can always use a LINtoLOG lut to flopp it back to LOG. We invested in the redvolts and Quad bat module and adding stuff that needs its own power cables etc is something I would like to stay away from as long as posible... Guess buying the Meizler is the only option but then we need bricks and all that aswell. And if buying the meizler then it's stupid to not also buy the wireless video / audio recivers which in total is an investment bigger than the epic body it self...

Hmm, I add to the debate. I agree that a mini IO module would be great. The camera is too large with both the Quad Battery module and the current IO module attached.

However, what I would like more than a Pro-Res/DNxHD module, is a more sensible way of decoding the Red Raw files. Adding a 5 000 $ card that does not support full epic pictures in real time at a normal frame rate is the biggest bottleneck in the red-system, and borderline ridiculous. If Red delivers a more sensible solution, the need for a Pro-Res/DNxHD module will diminish together with the excellent .r3d support already available in most post-production software.

Actually, if 1080 is the delivery, playing back from the cam in realtime to uncompressed/prores, is as sensible as anything these days... :)

dido-dido. Those that say its available in either the Meizler Modual or hang a outboard recorder on, are missing the points.

The Meizler is great if you need the wireless and extra functions, but even as a rental facility I'm scratching my head as to who will rent this when other wireless lens control options make the AC's happier. The outboard recorders are just not a "professional" option, for many good reasons. The Red team wants to be professional and so do we (in the rental biz), deliver us a professional option to do what many of your customers are asking for .... to have a "high quality" baked in codec option on board.

Thanks Red team you guys are doing great work, but this is a no-brainer and wont diminish your products one bit.

+1 for the module....small, compact and integrated is the way to go!!!

...but why would you need a proxy-module if .r3d files could play in realtime on a modern computer?

Many reasons. Significant storage and transfer/upload times is one obvious answer. Jon, you of coarse you do not have to buy the modual, everybody can choose it or not. To have that choice is what professionals want and expect in a contemporary camera/recording system. Every job is not equal in its needs, flexibility is key issue these days.
