  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Press Release...

Completely flushed screenplay based on a therapist utilizing tech for good and sometimes not so. Feel free to ape the idea... we start filiming the second it drops on one of the first pre orders
Stoked for life -didn't even read the specs pre order just knew it would be the shit...
kill the game jimmy jams

Happy 10th anniversary Jim!!!
Thank you for all these amazing years and looking forward to just as many years of disruptive innovation to come :)

Oh, and thank you for this press release, great news!

EDIT: And looking forward to the next sneek peak at Hydrogen ONE

@ Team RED, Jannard*, and Land and team Leia (David Fattal, Zhen Peng and Pierre Emmanuel Evreaux).

THANK YOU!

Thank you for making that public and very clear.

Such an announcement makes things 100x easier to make real and concrete development plans.

Before there was a significant worry that Leia and HYDROGEN would be competing systems which also makes development much more expensive and also tears one in half in terms loyalty and loyalty to RED.

Now we don't have to hedge our bets or tear ourselves up or split significant budget and resources between two or three different platforms! For smaller firms and developers best to put your wood behind one endeavor rather than three or four.

I am not religious but "Praise be!"... Thank God/the gods! /Phew!

This gives me tremendous confidence that we are on the right path.

With genuine and big hearted sentiment.

Thank You ! (Again).

* Really nice use of the term " Mixed reality " in your press release... I think that term fits well and unites a lot of folks that work in different areas of VR/AR and S-3d and CG and many other fields and technologies besides. So it's a great term that unites rather than divides, as sometimes these "Labels" create false dichotomies and false conflicts as the consumer or user sometimes selects a product or system through adherence to a notional "False" sub category.

There's some fun things to read between the lines about here :)

Yup there is a lot... (Between the lines), But what first came to (my odd), mind was the possibility of larger screen sizes? (In the future).

I don't know if there is a future technical limitation on screen size for the 4View Holo/glasses free* technology?

[I don't want to de-rail this thread with techno-nonsense].

The other stand out is the will to be super disruptive in the mobile device market.

There are very far reaching implications for this.

* The future's so bright it's glasses free...

++ Happy tenth B-day RED! :-)

Good news...Can't wait to get one of the Hydrogens in my hands.

Nice,
Is Leia still selling Dev Kit or no?

Hi Kwan,

If you poke around the Leia (inc) website you will find the beginnings of what looks like a developers "Portal".

https://www.leiainc.com/leia-loft/#developers

Worth poking around just https://www.leiainc.com/

It's seems pretty much like the usual "Healthy/well boundaried" engagement of early access developers (kind of thing).

There you will find contact info to make electronic "Introductions" and go from there (I guess). :-)

I know there are/were other development portals for Leia (previously) but not sure if there is a slightly different "Landscape" since the announcement with RED and HYDROGEN.

I'll be heading down that way before too long myself so maybe I find out too..., maybe the Menlo Park and Palo Alto presence and effort is a bit more focused on HYDROGEN?

Honestly I didn't expect all of this to sneak up on us so quickly ... lol But of course very excited and very positive about the whole thing.

Cheers,

Eric

P.s. Anyone lurking on REDUSER should really make the effort to check out the Leia site, as there they outline a very broad and DEEP range of applications... Think of it as bit of potential Roadmap.

By teaming with a Lightfield display company, it follows that Hydrogen at some point will shoot Lightfield footage. I'm assuming this has to do with a multi-lens module (like in the patent application uncovered and shown on the original thread here on REDuser.)

I suppose an early method might be setting up multiple Hydrogens in an array and using an application to stitch them all together. If that be the case, how many Hydrogens in a Lightfield array?

Just occurred to me... in that original patent application for a multi-camera array RED chose to call it something like dense field or somesuch. Figured it had to do with trademark infringement or just the desire to distinguish their product from others. With the new partnership, the more recognizable term "Lightfield" is back in play.
