  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Posts disappearing...

I think they're referring to this thread:

Moved: RED Not Good Enough for James Bond
ChrisLyon

That thread has not been deleted. It's in moderator limbo at the moment. Can't comment any more than that at this time.

"We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone with a bad attitude"

On EVERY page on red.com. For me this doesn't speak of a open, free thinking community. I have never seen a company that states something that bold on their website on every page, and frankly I find it scary. It's probably not true, but it makes me feel that there are people at RED that are monitoring this forum and put you on a black list if you make critical comments.

Are you serious? Really? Maybe a cultural difference thing?

This site is loaded with critical comments. And they are still here.

It doesn't seem to be in limbo to me... I just clicked and see a post from 8:15pm tonight and many others from today. Seems to work fine. Actually, John, one of the posts from tonight is you.

OK... I see, a newer thread. I'll check. My bad.

Jim

Everyone...

Sometimes things get moved for reasons that arn't immediately visible.

Sometimes other companies request a post be removed.

Sometimes people email me privately and ask to take something down.

Sometimes.. I just feel like it. It's one of those things that I am allowed to do once in awhile.. because it's my house and I pay the bills.

And trust me... If RED censored posts that said bad things about the company, 50% of the posts last month would of ended up in the trash bin.

So where is the thread? I still can't find it, Jim said it was only moved and not deleted. The thread in question is Chris Lyon's.

Maybe it is time to create a new thread called "Controversy" and move this one there?

Jim

Is it still okay for me to make my "Red: Suck it!" t-shirt for walking the floor at NAB?? :-) :-)

I am sure that a series of posts in a thread titled "Scratch Price", under the Assimilate sub-sub forum of sub-forum "4K Workflow" have been deleted.
A number of posts disappeared, including at least 2 from Laguun, and one response from Luki. And this was not the first time that had happened.
And I believe that more than one post, including one by Jim, in a Jay A. Kelley thread about the r3d codec release date being pushed, was up for about 10 minutes and then vanished....so as far as posts never being deleted goes, I can't believe that to be correct........

EDIT: as i wrote this and took a pee break, I've since noticed that there have been about 8 posts, including from Jarred and a number of moderator, confirming that posts have been deleted in the past. Further, I think it's correct that the assimilate thread indeed got some people up in arms...

I know there are critical comments on this website. I just made one, didn't I? ;-)

No, but the thing is: why the need to put this on every page on the RED website? Maybe it is a cultural thing but for me this is clearly a warning meant for RED users to keep from being too critical.

If this is not what it means than I don't understand it. Who is it meant for? And why does it have to be made so clear? Now it seems RED is going to war and you're either in or out. And the ultimate consequence would be that you are not 'serviced' anymore. No more ordering of cameras or parts? No more service for your camera? I am a client of RED and I find this not very inviting to say the least.

I certainly don't count deleting my own posts... which I have done on many occasions.

I am sorry you have taken it that way. If we stopped serving one customer, you would hear them scream bloody murder on this site. Quite the contrary... there was a thread about how much the RED team bends over backwards for our customers. We don't always get things right, but you have to kill us to stop from trying.

Jim

Aye, its true!

hi everybody!!! Smile!!!

Sander... I have to ask. You are #441. Have you taken delivery of your camera?

Jim

ok everyone.. sit down.

Im moving this thread to Off Topic.

Hope nobody just fell of their chair.

Sorry if that just pissed anyone off, but since this is in the RED ONE forum.. its not in the right place.

Fair enough Jim. I was just calling what I see.

Jarred, with all due respect, and I understand it's your house, and backyard, I believe that the moderators at least owe the people whose posts they've deleted the courtesy of letting them know they've deleted them. And I think in general that's probably most of what the problem is. That posts are deleted without any warning or comment as to being deleted. Very central committee like to do this.

btw, where the hell's the beer fridge......
