Post Your Scarlet-X Rig

Hi Michael,
Thank you for posting pics of your rig.
Do you know if it's possible to mount DSMC plate underneath the gunner?
Looking for on/off tripod ability with gunner staying with the camera full time.
Cheers !

The plate can be mounted underneath the gunner. :-)

Yes. The spacing is perfect for all three screws.

That's a noga (or similar) arm. They generally have a 1/4-20 or 3/8-16 stud to mount to a top plate or the holes in the camera, and of course a 1/4-20 stud to mount a monitor to. The handle mid-way up tightens and loosens the mechanism that allows you to bend the arm in any direction.

Cool, have been looking at getting that for a while. So that will work well for my 3rd party monitor but what about the RED 5" Touch - how do people get those onto Isreali arms? Or is it just a bad idea? I haven't seen anyone do that yet.

I would highly recommend the accessory mount: http://www.red.com/store/rail-components/product/accessory-attachment-bracket

Get that with a dogbone (whatever flavor you want) and a swat rail with a rosette swat rail clamp. That's probably the most sturdy monitor mounting option you're going to find. Yes, it's a tad expensive, but worth every penny.

Extension arms, magic arms, brackets, rails mounts all fail in comparison to the quality of RED products. :-)

Finally got the last piece (a riser I ordered from China) in the mail today and was able to complete the conversion of my cheap Indian DSLR rig!

Attempting to assemble a rig... But wondering if anyone has had any issues mounting the outrigger handle with a follow focus? It seems the handle may get in the way a little bit. I understand while using both hands on the camera it's not likely the follow focus would be used but it'd be nice to keep it all attached when shooting

Just wanted to show this...

super sturdy and nice on the neck.. .etc EVF mount with a short 19mm carbon rod 2 19mm rod/nato clamps and 2 nato rosettes...

Bjorn, how do you like the Redvolt xl's on there?

Nice rigs!
I wonder why any of the them includes RED Matte Box. Is it so bad? I am about to buy Scarlet rig soon and I still did not decided about the accessories. Your rigs gave me a lot of inspiration.
Another thing is - most of the rigs use different battery than RedBrick. Why is that? I understand why no one wants to use RedVolts but what about RedBrick?

All the best

Marek, a lot of the gear has already been owned and is now being"reused", and if it's new it's most often because these are cheaper options than the ones from RED. And then there's also the ones who want certain options RED just doesn't offer with their matte box. REDs gear is pro stuff. There's nothing "bad" about it.

Thanks Björn for sharing! how is the whole thing teaches to the ring? Can't make that out!

Well, I understand that is nothing wrong with RED;) I love it.
I was just concern what it is with that matte box that nobody use it. I see that it is mounted directly onto lens, not onto rails, maybe that is some kind of hint?
Anyway, thanks for replay.

In a lot of cases, yes the lack of rod mounting is why the Red mattebox wasn't considered. I know that's the big deal breaker for me right now. thankfully that's coming, as is the third stage.

Here is a new Studio set-up for my Scarlet "Adonis" which now has a custom studio power distribution box.

Jay,
What lens you're using and what's the components used for the support system?
Thanks

It is a Cooke 18-100mm T.3 "Classic" lens. I use Arri DoveTail plate, Wooden Camera 15mm Studio Bridge plate with Easy Riser plate.
My tripod system for the studio configuration is Sachtler Studio II head with Ronford Baker tripods. For the top rods mount, I use Wooden Camera Easy Plate XL, Easy Stick for 5" Touch and Tiny-versal 15mm with Top Riser.
