  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

PL mounts for sale on eBay?

I think the rule of thumb is - If you can't hold the lens up in your fingers only gripping it by the pl mount, then it needs support. That being said, I use a few lenses just barely don't pass that test without support. Lens support isn't just about the mount on the camera, you are stressing the mount on the lens, and on heavy lenses even the lens body and helical etc.

I get that, I'm just asking for quick shooting circumstances. If not maybe the RED PL mount should be more of what i'm looking at.

I think you are missing the point, the lens is going to fail before the pl mount. So the answer would be yes, they should be able to take the strain.

No issues here, I've used this PL mount on many shoots with RPP 18 through 100mm. A red focus diascope is on my short list, unless Jacek has a killer deal on his version. However, all my jobs are focus by means other than distance measurement and barrel whiteness marks, so I guess proper factory calibration is overkill.

For your Scarlet/Epic? I'm so paranoid about the sensors... no issues there...? What protects them, is it just an empty gap or a pocket in the metal? I'd love to get a PL just for fun since I don't have an PL lenses and I'd only be using them for 'real' jobs where I'd rent, but for home use, I have a bunch of various Nikon primes, so I got that mount from RED.

No issues with the sensors, there is a gap in the metal where the sensors line up...all dumb mounts that I have seen have this.

The ebay link doesnt work anymore?

Thanks now to figure out which is which.

they have 2 PL mounts, one is black the other is shiny, but otherwise the same... the 3 others are OCT-19, BNCR and PV mounts... HTH

ordered and waiting...i ll try with various lenses and zooms (masters ultras angen. zooms) will write review

Looking forward to your reviews. Please test all possible lens :)

I have one and it works very well. I also have a Red Pl mount and there is a difference in quality but it is a low cost option.

When switching from a Canon mount to a PL mount, does one need to adjust/calibrate something like focus? or is it just a quick swap and go? Also Kemalettin, your pics are NSFW btw.

fours screws and your done. I'm not talking about the NSFW pictures either. :yesnod:
