  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

PL mounts for sale on eBay?

It seems a lot of people are happy with this cheaper mount. Did anyone have any issues with it after their initial review?

Anyone out there still using theirs everyday jobs?

Use mine weekly for over a year, no issues. Used mostly with RRP 18mm through 100mm.

Hand held with Red primes.

Has anyone bought from the Website lately?

I literally ordered one a few days ago, had consistent contact with the guy running it. After the payment went through with PayPal, since I was having trouble I was in direct contact with someone there. And sent a payment he said he'd ship soon. No shipment has yet happened, and he isn't replying to emails?

Has this turned into a scam?

Jeffrey, did you finally receive your mount?

How do you like it so far?

Anyone else want to chime in on this mount to date.

I've got one and it's worked great the few times I've used it. Heavy duty and precise tolerances, totally worth it to me as a secondary mount (I only own EF glass). Communication with the seller was fine, including ordering a second body cap after dropping the first one on concrete and scratching it badly, he shipped both orders in a reasonable timeframe

+1 Love this particular adapter. Takes about 2 weeks to arrive the states from Poland though so plan for that.

Believe it on not I have finally ordered up a BNCR mount. The seller was very quick to notify me they were out of stock and it would be around 3 weeks lead time, which is fine since the planned shoot with the BNCR lenses isn't till Dec. Just a week and a half later I got an email saying they were in stock and my would be shipping out the next day. I have paid for express so hopefully it should arrive in the next few days and I'll post picks and impressions.

non "certified" mounts do void your warranty. there are certified third party ones available...or go for the new red pl mount with built in global shutter and if you can afford the light loss you have a pretty good in lens ND solution. yesterday for instance on a Alexa job I couldn't fit a mattebox on while having a giant teleprompter plus follow focus. Granted everyone is gonna tell me "just use longer rails"...but we didn't have them on us so what can you do? then they wanted me to add ND but with no matte box and not using the new Alexa, but an older one we ended up with no way to do it... So I think the new Red Mount looks awesome and am going to talk to the rental house I keep my camera at about getting it in there...

In the US you can't void your warranty for unrelated problems. So if you somehow manage to short out the data pins RED can refuse warranty service. If your monitor stops working they can't legally void the warranty. To employ a car analogy, Toyota can't void your warranty on the drivetrain if you tint your windows.

Once again too much forum over thinking. Four screws, pretty hard to messup. Installing upside down I could see possible physical damage to the pin board, or stripping the threads from over tightening. A mount swap takes about the same level of skill as installing a tripod plate.

Mine works ok. Only used it with primes and nothing really heavy but the aluminium is really strong. Really easy to install.

the two options for PL, does it matter or is it just for looks?

ordered one :)

Great eBay seller, very well produced mount.

Works great and solid to boot.

I should update this as I bought one of the mounts... it works well with regular lenses, built well... however, it does NOT work with anamorphic lenses. The pin is off and the lenses mount almost on a 30 degree angle. I went back to the rental house almost mad at them for giving me, what I thought, were bad lenses mounts but I checked them on a RED PL mount and they were perfectly lined up. Back on mine? Off to the side again. If you want anamorphic, this PL mount is useless... I might actually sell mine, if anyone's interested.

your right, i should of stated it better. one can choose to void there own warranty by breaking the TOS of not, balls in our court and we are in control. personally i think if i went third party the allstar mount looks best if your into swapping to lots of formats.

Jason, can you elaborate a bit more?

So, even spherical lenses mount with markings 30 degrees off?

Did you take any pictures Jason? I mean, it's a standard... being off by 30degrees actually seems difficult (or did you mean 3 degrees?)

EDIT: Also, Jason, which 3rd party mount did you get specifically? The Cieco7 one, the Foto-Aks one, or the Cinemods one?
