  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Picture of a Weapon

This picture suggests to me that the ports at the rear are power out ports, not audio as someone has suggested. They are located on the XL Power adaptor module.

There seem to be two mini audio connectors at the top of the I/O column. One has a headphone icon (right), the other possibly a microphone icon (left). Is it possible that RED is actually downgrading the base system to only one audio input? That would be disappointing. I run two booms directly into my Epic for many shoots. I hope I don't have to buy a "pro I/O" module just to do that with Weapon.

I agree that your observation is accurate. Maybe a single stereo 3.5mm input? But I am also guessing that better audio inputs will show up on one or more modules.

Jarred has mentioned, I believe, that there will be side modules with mini XLRs.

For those who have seen Weapon, how would it fit inside a current generation DSMC cage?
Would the smaller body make the cage look too big?

I'm using this Camtree cage now:

It should fit fine. If you include the integrated top plate, Weapon is 'about' the same height as Epic/Scarlet. Width is about the same, it is of course shorter, but thats not a problem with your cage.

Carbon looks damn nice. Imagining it's lighter than Carbon Dragon too.

One of the more interesting things to me about the new design is the accessory bolting points for sure.

WOW! THX JARRED! Was just thinking I need more VVeapon Shots and now we have some video!

Oh wow, now that we can see a 360:
1. vents moved from front to back, makes so much more sense. Wonder if it will run a bit cooler, or if temps remain the same
2. Can see now how thin the ¨legacy¨ i/o module is. I have no doubt there will be different combos... lots of people wondering about two channel audio. Wonder if HDMI has been upgraded.
3. Not sure if weapon will come with "switchblade" by default, this looks very cool. I'm sure there will be a redesigned sidehandle, which I would go for due to the type of work I do.
4. Ah, Sam Karr very rightly pointed out where the second EVF connector is, on the side! I can see now how this works with the EVF Lemo adaptor Jarred had shown before.

This looks so fucking cool, love it!!! Can't wait for all the specs and details!

Wow, a full body reveal! What interests me is that PL mount. Is it a magnesium one or are we getting some other option besides Ti?

I believe Carbon Weapons will want the Magnesium PL Mount for the lightest weight configuration. Not to mention it's all black and awesome :)

But you can use any of the DSMC Mounts on this thing.

So the current QR plates should work as well, right? :)

Can I speculate a bit? I think maybe this is our "direct update" (Low cost minus the carbon) option: contrary to the other shown sneak pics, this one is prominently displaying Dragon on the body, which might mean is the option where we keep our "current" sensor with the body upgrade, and 6K. There might be a "weapon" body with "weapon" sensor at the same time, probably? Just adding to the fun. This will probably be the upgrade I will be able to afford (minus the carbon..)

So I guess we finally see on the left side the same connection as the monitor one on top no?

Great! Thanks.
