  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Picture of a Weapon

I think Jarred said there were contacts for only one Redvolt to work and that the Redvolt is only meant for maintenance work on the camera. The XL is the source of choice for shooting.
thanks. I'll add my redvolts to the list of items to be sold.

Do we know if current bottom plates work with Wpn? with the size difference to the body I guess not?

Seeing that pic got me thinking, I usually have a bunch of gear mounted on that side of the camera, wireless receiver, Hotlink audio reliever etc. I'm gonna have to rethink that one. I can't see folks putting a whole lot of ribs and other mounting options on the right side of the body. But I may not need some of it anymore, I hoping for integrated Wifi, so there won't be a Hotlink on there.

Right Im thinking the same thing. But you probably wont need the A-Box and Hotlink anymore. Just need a place to put a Teradek/Paralinx and wireless focus. Maybe behind cam on rails?

Looks like the old baseplate is still valid, no?

Would seem so.

But on this picture it looks like the base plate is not there but the same quicklock... Possibly it has the little basplate dovetail thingy directly on the body...Would love that, the old baseplate had pretty shitty screws to mount on the camera body, they should have been cone shaped to make sure the camera was mounted straight. as it was it was quite difficult to mount the camera so that focus motors and such geared on the lenses the right way if the camera was mounted even a tiny bit off. And for what we do with motion control that little offset could be quite devistating... camera aiming slightly to the side from the baseplate is not good so personally I hope its built into the camera and precision milled straight with the sensor.

Looks like two lemo power outs right under the XL battery model aswell.

It looks great.

- Are there 3/8 16 and 1/4 20 mounting points? (We rig the cameras often and the grips need them).

- Is there a place we can mount our video transmitters, MDR, AC Monitor?

- How does the EVF Mount?

- Can we get a module with 2 x HDSDI? (We don't use HDMI)

- Can we power it with V-Mounts and have power distribution on the camera?

Hoping to make it to NAB to check it out... it looks very good.

Has to be more, or they have to drop the current Epic-Dragon Carbon (and then all the other Epic and Scarlet body prices).

Weapon sits above Epic and Scarlet, so we can readily assume regular weapon will probably be in the $40k range, and Carbon will be at least $60k. Vista and 65m? Let's say $80k and $100k, respectively.

So many Ks, my wallet started bleeding)

It would be true if it would be an Arri camera. But this won't happen with RED.

Jarred has stated that REDbricks, Redvolts and Revolt XL will work. The REDbricks are Vmount.

Any word on the Monochrome line? EOL? Or do they get the weapon upgrade too? I could have missed the news in the onslaught of 50,000 new posts. Not that I'm complaining... NAB's gonna be sweet!!

I'm sure Monochrome's get Weaponized too...

Jarred is on a roll!

This picture suggests to me that the ports at the rear are power out ports, not audio as someone has suggested. They are located on the XL Power adaptor module.

Yup. Jarred said it will have two power out ports this time.

I speculate the Carbon Dragon will go the way of the Epic M; Its availability tailing off when a streamlined CF Weapon hits the shelves.

More (Weapon) hardware in less space could mean more integration - and like Moores law lower Reds buld costs.

Any speculative thoughts out there on what else Red could put in the CF WPN to enable it to 'do more'?

... could there be a brain upgrade that paves the way for 120hz @ 8K (when 'bigger' finally turns up), and allows the current sensor to work at its maximum read/reset rate?

AJ

Any clues so far on the location of the two LCD/EVF monitor ports? Happy that it will have two now built into the body. Excited overall as back in 2007... refinement is here.
