  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Picture of a Weapon

EDIT : Looks like there are some images of mount connected flush the the front of the camera - makes the following an even more unlikely proposition :)

- - - - -

New 'out there' thought.

+) The new fan in the Weapon Sucks ... but also Blowsup.
.. It Can't suck in air from the front of the camera any more.
.. It doesn't have as many things to cool down.
.. fans facing up means less white noise towards the tallent.

+) The reason there is no Mount in the picture ... is because the Mount is ATTACHED to the Dragon sensor..

+) I am going to speculate that the Screen in JLs 4x4 was not on an Umbilical cord.
.. If Red didn't implement a Wave2 802.11AC (which admittedly consumes quite a bit of power) .... that it was in fact the Dragon + Lens was on a Leash to the front of the vehicle where Skull was located.

Red : Not content with being 'visionaries .... they want the Weapon's to lead the pack. Arri may have punched through the 3k barrier ... but Red are always going to be 3m in front :-)

+) Introduce a 'Red Eye' concept in which at most two sensors can been connected by thunderbolt connectors to the Brain (1.25 GB a sec down).
These eye modules would only compose of a sensor, lens activation circuit, cooling circuit and transceiver.
-> Red brain could go in back pack - and connect to the two 'Red Eyes' by a two TB umbilical chord.
-> weight of eye could be as little as 750 g - excluding lens.
-> optional power cable if not bus power-able over TB
-> Lens directed info could include FIZ data
-> New Red lenses with inbuilt digital motors would be the perfect compliment.
-> Small width of Red Eye could allow two lens next to each other (3d rigs)
FIZ data for rig to maintain 2 x lenses at required distance apart.
-> First Red Eye to use 32Mpix x 5 micron FF sensor (Dragon tech)

I'm curious about the Lemo Adapter location on the camera?

the lemo adapter has pins on the bottom - so guess it would attach at the new monitor location - shown in the pic the other day.

Clarke and Jeffery, yes that does seem to be the case. I wonder if the lower image is the same thing except it's for the newer, to be released monitors who want to connect them with wire off the camera body?

I assume once we see the top of the body properly without a handle without a monitor then 3rd parties will be able to design top plates that sit around connection points meaning the lemo adaptor could then be added on, I have a feeling top plate wise we are going to have a little less real estate on this body

Or the weapon is going to be so complete we won't be attaching anything else

Let's talk about that lower image, shall we?

It isn't Lemo, and what are the red and black wheels for? At first glance they look like counter threaded locking nuts, but what would they be locking down that might have a connector sticking out of it? What is that pin @8 o'clock on the red wheel/dial?

We can't see a groove for locking in an antenna or BNC connection. Could it be BNC?

An EVF leveling device... Interesting. I am beginning to see that, I guess.

Could it be a detachable accessory of some other kind... A la Redmote? How about a focus and iris ring for lenses with internal motors? I don't know what the connector would be for in that case... MAYBE a conventional whip for on camera use or antenna. Lol that one is a stretch, eh?

Yes please. Although the flexibility is a plus in some cases, 90% of the time I feel like I'm creating a frankenstein, and all that flexibility is a pain when you work with crews who may not be all that interested in diving deep and figuring out all the ways possible to rig it up to a basic level of functionality.

I'm sticking to my guns and say the bottom image is for the new monitors that will have different connections for when you need to connect it off camera.

So that provides an interchangeable connector for the new connector-less monitor? Black nut secures to the monitor and red nut secures choice of connector?

OK :-)
