  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Picture of a Weapon

i wonder if they would ever consider a non proprietary media flavor of recording...if Cfast2 can handle arri raw on the new mini I have to imagine it could handle red raw as well, even if not as the full frame rate potential at least it would provide a secondary tier of camera media for the cheap minded folks?

The pics are getting juicier that is for sure...Between the prores, and larger mags it sure is exciting hints! i wish i knew other details on what else had changed under the hood or how much it will cost. If this is priced for Dragon MX owners near the 10k mark that seems very reasonable to me, but if its near the 40k mark I'd really have to weigh my options more cautiously...Especially since there is no rush to Weaponize, that part really puts me at ease. For Dragon I had this obsession with getting it as soon as I could, and sure I had it fairly early, but not sure if I will pursue the same concept this time around, the frantic rush to decide on my upgrade path too given the Carbon flavor is different then the other one? I wonder if I am better off saving for the best of the best, or dare I say even offing my current brain for a new Carbon Weapon? No idea what the best path will be, but NAB is looking exciting..

I wonder if the body width changed or stayed the same as Epic. Hope it's the latter

If a 15watt incandescent lightbulb can scold hands....
... expecting a 60w (6k @ 24Hz) device to not have cooling might be expecting too much in the physics dept.

I am guessing that if HFR reached 120HZ @ 6K ... that the heat dissipation would be significantly more than 24Hz.

Until we see (or hear!) the noise levels projected Forwards (towards talent) and what (reflected fan noise) is picked up by microphones, there is nothing to get irritated by (as forced cooling was a must given the silcon process nodes that exist today).

Hey that looks like what this is !! ;-)

[EDIT : This is what happens when you drink too much Java Blue Mountain]

:D :D :D

If there is a Picture being displayed on the Monitor ....

And the Mount was set fire to in Jarred's video ...

Maybe he is spoon-feeding as the future!

.. there IS no MOUNT!

The Weapon has two parts ... a Magazine to load with & your to check your 'sights' ... and a 'secret' part that you shoot with!

:D

This explains why we have not see any lenses on any of the leaked pictures thus far.

(the N/A where the Aperture reading (on the 7" display) .. must be because the chosen lens was manual)

Microphones are Not connected to the 'Magazine' ... they must connect to the 'secret' part.

[EDIT: I think I was jumping to the wrong conclusion here .... I'd better go and drop some beta-blockers ;-) ]

Agree on the 6. If you compare the 8:1 and the resolution number, it doesn't seem so uniform on top, a small part on the right side of the top circle seems to be missing, indicating a 6, not an 8.
Hard to tell thoughh

Guys, Dragon is a 6K sensor, getting 8K out of it us upscaling which RED would never do. My guess is that the DR may be wider and some higher speed framerates may be available. Defenitely not an increase in resolution. that is reserved for the next sensor.

So if there's no wires there are supposed to be some sort of contacts on that part of the camera. But almost everyone I know don't mount the display this way, it usually sits on a Noga arm somewhere, and this requires a cable. Or maybe this time the display becomes wireless itself...

P.S.: I love this RED guessing game much more than ARRI's boring press releases - "look we made 3 more alexas"

Wireless monitor that has to attach to camera at a certain point cant really be considered wireless. Its Cable-less sure, but not wireless in the way wireless is widely known. Lets hope it is proper wireless allowing mounting anywhere.

But it would need power, do you think it will have/need a battery on the monitor to run?

Correct about the power. So..when RED say wireless they mean they are hiding the cables? But if you have to mount the Monitor in one place that's mighty limiting and hardly true wireless.

If that is the case it is classic One step forward two steps back.

Jarred wrote "Wire Removal" on his FB post, not "wireless."

Plus, didn't he already say there's a new monitor cable connector? I imagine that's for when the monitor isn't attached to the body.
