  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Picture of a Weapon

By the way... Will the QR plates need to be replaced, too? The WPN is probably shorter...

Is it just me...or does Weapon look tiny? I know it's supposed to be smaller than an Epic...but how..here you really get a sense of how compact it is...

wow it is tinny for sure. reminds me of the Men in Black "Cricket" gun ;)

The PL mount looks massive on it. I guess that puts it into perspective on how small this thing is.

From 2nd day onwards it will be for all Dragon users. This happened during Epic to Dragon upgrades. Do anyone has any news in this???

- WRONG - My understanding from the Recon thread was that it was going to be a straight up serial number priority this time, not what time you put your order in. And yes, being at NAB is often actually a hindrance not a help if it does end up being based on time-stamp since it's harder to get solid wifi in the convention center. - WRONG -

Corrected by Phil.

This just popped up in my FB:
Could it be that it's related to the RED WEAPON?

And if so, do these two parts in green have someting to do with each other?

I know nothing more about Weapon than anyone else, in fact quite a bit less than it seems a lot of people. And yes my trials and tribulations in the REDLink Developers forums is partially what's in the photo I posted haha. You green highlighted the most boring part of my photo. ;) As to the green thing on the front of Weapon that just looks like a hex screw to me. Its purpose is probably very low tech: hold the front on and keep it from falling off. :D

If that was cinetape on the front of the camera, it wouldn't work very well since there would be a matte box in the way.

Incorrect.

Just got really, really official word

Additionally, Serial Number is not a factor in the Weapon upgrade. Fulfillment will be based on the camera type you are trading in, meaning this priority:

1. Carbon Dragon
2. Epic-M Dragon
3. Epic-X Dragon
4. Scarlet Dragon

Then within each group it will be by date and time stamp of your order placed.

This is official, so plan accordingly.

I'm sure we can come up with something. ;)

Hehe, people laugh at the $17K gold Apple Watch ($10K gold watch housing + $7K band with solid gold buckle/clasp). And I kinda agree. But I'll be damned if anyone can tell me how it's any more absurd than paying $15~$20K for an equally mass-produced Gucci or Rolex with a fancy watch housing and band surrounding what amounts to their same common $250 watch internals. The fashion watch industry has always been stooopid, as far as I'm concerned.

Not to take us off topic (OK a little) but you'd be surprised how much hand finishing actually does go into a modern Rolex (about 1 year start to finish) I'm a precision nerd, I love anything with a high level of precision engineering or optics, it's why I love my Red, Angeniux, Leica, Rolex and why I shoot precision rifle competition in my down time. I know watches are obsolete to some extend but my 1968 submariner is keeping time just as well as my 2014 GMT II, that's some pretty impressive engineering not to mention the aesthetic and historical value.

Off-topic: 1968??? Wow that's impressive.

On-topic: Who here is just dying for NAB???

In the most recent teaser photo there looks to be a connector port on the bottom of the smart side of the camera...why?

looks like a screw hole to me...

So is this the right side that we're looking at? I'm particularly intrigued by the round-looking shape on the front right top corner.

I guess we know how it looks now. Integrated switchblade on the right. Maybe removable and wireless, a mix between redmote and switchblade. Maybe not, as we see screws on one of the first pictures. But what about the handle? How to hold that camera?
