  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

YES. Jarred has said that all existing Red mounts will work on the weapn. I was considering buying one of these as well but I am going to wait untill the Weapon Specs are announced.

-REDVolts
-RR-X
-Mini Mags

Unless of course you don't plan on moving forward in the next 18-24 months and can make your money back.

Lol, sorry about that, was just trying to get his attention.

Mini Mags would be great to buy when you upgrade, to use the special discount based on how many Red Mags you got.

It is the same sensor, but i'm guessing different electronics, processor, etc. Since the motion mount is electronic, I'm wondering if it'll work the same way, or if Red would release a new version.

From what I understood, he said the mounts would work for FF or S35 lenses, he said nothing about the motion mount, or the electronics, I do hope it works though.
 
Jarred, any possibility of having a comprehensive list of what accessories will not work with Weapon. At his point I feel a lot of us are actually paranoid from buying any accessories at all on the RED site lol.... It would be nice to know that info ASAP as to not make bad purchase decisions in the very near future :)

I don't get it... It's what; 45 days from now? If you can't wait because you have a job that needs module X; then rent it / borrow it. Why the panic? Why the worry?
 
Not everyone lives on reduser and have time to go through hundred of threads... Someone may not realize certain items are not compatible and go ahead and buy an accessory just to find out it won't be compatible in a few months when they upgrade to weapon. A DP friend of mine just bought a bunch of accessories to complete his kit and he just found out through me that those will be useless on his next upgrade...
 
Lots of speculation on this thread, based on a few hints and a couple of blurry pics. Always fun! I tell you Jarred, you could sell fridges to Eskimos - and you *know* that was nothing other than a sincere compliment :-)

But very little speculation about pricing.

We've only done this - body upgrade - once before. I got into Epic thanks to the stage 3 program; new camera, LCD, accessories kit etc. for $10k. Insane. Pretty much the same ballpark cost to us as sensor upgrades have been. But that was a special case, and I'm damn well certain that *must* have represented a substantial loss leader for RED. Taking care of the R1 owners.

I suspect this upgrade might be quite a bit more pain in the pocket book. That's not a complaint, just being realistic here. $10k R1 body -> Epic kit was insane and not to be repeated. I'm prepared to be surprised, but I don't think $10k Dragon body -> Weapon kit is happening, nor anything particularly close to that.

Anyone want to buy a Cooke zoom and a Scarlet? :lol:
