Flashback to 2014 and the headlines in the mirrorless filmmaking world was that of the LUMIX GH4 being the very first hybrid mirrorless camera capable of recording in UHD 4K, without the need for an external recorder – how times have quickly changed. With the recent release of the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K, and now the official release of the LUMIX S1H, it looks like 6K video within these compact camera bodies is now a thing. Panasonic LUMIX did of course share some of the top headline specs of this new camera a few months ago, teasing us filmmakers with what was promising to be the most powerful hybrid camera for filmmaking to date – and it seems like they’ve delivered. In this video, Kriss runs you through the main features of the S1H and shares his thoughts on how he found shooting with a pre-production model in the HD, 4K and 6K recording modes.

Panasonic just announced the new S1H full-frame mirrorless camera, their video-centric follow-up to the S1 and S1R, so we decided to try it out on a commercial video shoot. We filmed at Frames Bowling in New York City with mostly available light, testing out the camera’s low-light capabilities as well as 6K and 4K video modes. We run through some of the features, as well as compatible lenses and accessories, to put together a finished commercial and show you some of what this camera can do. Appreciate that Rand. I'll likely add in the max stills res and all that in a bit. Slightly different than the maximum motion formats.
 
Between this and the Sigma fp, the L mount is shaping up to have some interesting offerings at it's disposal.
Really liked the look of Kepler 138 on Page 1.

Not to go too off topic, but it certainly makes one wonder if DSMC3 will have an L Mount option.

Yeah, I liked both "Kepler 138" and "Alive" on the previous page both I believe were shot with Atlas Anamorphic Lenses.

That is a good and valid question. We don't know jack about DSMC3 yet, but with Komodo using what seemingly is a fixed RF Mount, it wouldn't be a far stretch that might come to DSMC3 as well.

Canon RF and L-Mount Alliance share the same flange focal distance of 20mm. What would be sensible is a user replaceable mount much like we have now in DSMC2.

It's early days of L-Mount when it comes to broader adoption. At the moment Panasonic, Leica, and Sigma are committed to the mount. However, in Sigma's case in particular I wouldn't be shocked if they offered RF mount versions of the same lenses unless they go full bully mode on the new FP. There's going to be several RF mount cameras in the next few months too.

I haven't dived into the electronics of the L-Mount yet, but for purely manual glass designing the lens with user interchangeable mounts makes a lot of sense for this shorter flange stuff.
 
Is there an ND Filter adapter in the works from sigma? (EF to L mount).
