  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

ohhh thank god.. 3d becoming a joke!

Bad movies are ruining the 3D field, Hollywood is just pushing it on everything now and it's becoming way overexposed. I already avoid them and wait for the 2-D version.
Audiences Should read reviews and see if its a good film before they pay extra for 3d

i think that was the point of the article...

shitty movies are pushing 3D to try and get sales..

regardless of the quality of movie.. i personally cant stand 3d movies..
headaches galore

Zakaree, your opinion and filling about S3D might be simply caused by the fact that ONE you have just simply not seen a well executed S3D or 3D movie in a proper Cinema not only properly equipped but also properly calibrated, or TWO you simply are one of a extremely small percentage of individuals which suffer form Retina and or Visual Cortex anomalies and for this you simply can't process the Fake Disparity of S3D or 3D, and suffer form it.

As far as the Article, is just one of very few against an incredible large and undeniable amount of supporting Directors, Producers, FilmMakers alike, and if originally intended for S3D and Shot S3D not converted, then Movies will be as good as they can get, and S3D has nothing to do with the story, just another tool, but if not done well, will kill even the best Story.

If you look back on History to the articles of Sound, and after that Color, you will see similar resistance, yet look were we are today.

no i fully understand that..
It sucks, cuz everytime i go to a 3d movie (many different places too)
i get really bad headaches.. and just hope movies dont shift this way, because I will never see a movie again if that was the case.

I didn't like Avatar in 3D and you can't get much better 3D than James Cameron can pull off. It is just a gimick and I am ready for it to pass back to gimick movies. Friday the 13th part III in 3D is what a 3D movie should be. Maybe the Disney kids movies too, but not every movie that gets made.

No worries, there always will be a Standard Monoscopic version.

Let's bring 'The Tingler' back

"Percepto!" was a gimmick where William Castle attached electrical "buzzers" to the underside of several seats in movie theaters where The Tingler was scheduled to be screened. The buzzers were small surplus vibrators left over from World War II. The cost of this equipment added $250,000 to the film's budget. It was predominantly used in the larger theaters.

Sorry folks ... but you can piss on 3D all day long. A bad film is 2D or 3D is ... a bad film.

If the industry never makes another 3D film ever - TRUST ME - they will surely make PLENTY of BAD movies.

I'm cool with the folks that hate 3D - I personally think it's an exciting format and if you use it WELL - you can do great things. Just like IMAX ... or even Black & White! Sadly ... nobody (in Hollywood) seems all that interested in "doing great things".

Zak - if you really think the "death of 3D" will suddenly make Hollywood make great films .... well ... I have some swampland in Florida I'd like to show you ...

It's a new media. Learning takes time and mistakes. Don't blame the media for poor content.

Filmmakers like Mr. Whedon and Mr. Abrams argue that 3-D technology does little to enhance a cinematic story, while adding a lot of bother.
3D technology cannot enhance 2D storytelling. Quite the opposite.

“It hasn’t changed anything, except it’s going to make it harder to shoot,” Mr. Whedon said at Comic-Con.

In order to work, storytelling has to be adapted to the medium, not the other way around.

It's actually getting increasingly harder with every movie that comes out to find the monoscopic version in theaters. Last Airbender for example, at least in NYC, every single theater was showing the "REAL 3D" version, I didn't go see it cause of the reviews, but when I was amped to see it I was desperately looking for any theater playing the 2d version. Only ones were far into New Jersey. If this trend continues, the options will only be at the blu ray/dvd level.

3D technology has a long way to go to replace 2D. It is very stressful and unnatural for the eyes/brain to deal with constructing a coherent 3D image from a 2D projection. For about 10% of the population, it doesn't work at all or makes them sick.
It is fun to watch though when the film lends itself to that. Avatar was truly amazing in Imax 3D. But I could never watch television at home in 3d on a regular basis. Too fatigueing.

It's a new media.

Uh, no it's not. 3D has been annoying us for quite sometime now (pre 1950's)... It's like a virus that lies dormant for a bit and springs up to attack every so often...

We NEED stories, not gimmicks, suit and tie folks at the studios who choose what we see (along with all the ticket buyers located in the fly over states)...
