  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

happy day,
finally received my PRO LCD, just in time for this weekend's shoot!
I'm sure I'm not the first one to receive this item, but strangely enough still had not seen any post about this one.
As far as now i'm very happy but somehow not over-impressed, probably just because everything is alot better, but still not perfect.
viewing angle is better, but still not as you would hope.
color banding still there.
better everything, but still not your dream LCD.
Anyway these are just quick and rough first impressions, let's see with proper testing!:)
Curious to see how lower power draw affects battery consumption and increased brightness helps shooting on sunny outdoor ...
 
Forgive my ignorance but what is "color banding"? I own a Neb HDS 70 and I'm curious as to how the pic quality and contrast of the Pro is in comparison to the Neb or Pany 80. Are the adjustments internal/menu or external knobs? Can't glean much from Red site.

So is this monitor worth the extra money?

I've had it on order for a while now and have yet to receive it (Still on back order), and I'm wondering if I should continue to wait, or just go with the 5.6" and use the difference on other gear...

So how much better is it, and it is worth the extra?

my opinion is that it is in fact worth the extra, just not your "definitive" LCD.
it is better on every aspect, so unless money is a big issue, go for it.
any other opinion?
 
Have you had a chance to test this any further or use it on job? Love to hear some more first hand reports re: sharpness, contrast, brightness, etc.

Sure, used this one on all my jobs. People was always impressed. As far as me, everything is top notch, just would like an even more wide viewing angle. Still have to follow with your head the LCD to be sure to be planar to the LCD surface (bad english here i guess) if you want to judge exposure.
Gimme extra viewing angle for a PRO-PRO-ULTRA-MASTER LCD :)
 
I always use the EVF and have the LCD hanging off the back for other people to watch. I don't like the LCDs color tint. It seems to have a blue hue on it.
