  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

OFFHOLLYWOOD OMOD Modules for RED WEAPON

Some really awesome features in these things, super cool to see how much you can customize DSMC2 in such an integrated way. I'm sure guys who are used to timecode boxes, wireless transmitters, and lens control units velcro'd on every square inch of their camera (and with a nest of wires) are rejoicing.

I unfortunately don't really have a need for all these options and features, and adding a battery plate increases the cost by about $700-900 so I'll probably stick to my Base I/O V-Lock expander for the time being.

Congrats on the launch! I'm hoping to make it out to NAB again this year, I'll have to come check everything out!

i was wondering that too because on your mock up the battery and module seem to fit flush with the body, is that because where your adapter sits (lower) on the back of the omod?
or is this just a mock up wish on how the battery will fit?

That's just an old render. Still messing with battery module form factor/mechanical. We will show final results at NAB.

Umm. love the idea of a short battery.

Thank you for all these answers. Too bad for the external in though. Good quality scratch track is useful.
....

I was thinking the same thing. Having a simple scratch mini stereo in (even without any dedicated or elobarate boards) is extremely useful if you have your scratch audio coming from a source too far away from the internal mic to catch it.
And with the DSMC2 not having that option built in, this feels like a missing piece to the puzzle.

Too bad, you are right.... Allmost perfect modules! But that is not Just because a little "mic in" mini jack plug...

I'm so happy to finally have prices and dates!! I hope the delivery will be on time! I ordered the biggest one (latitude+)! (But ideally I would prefer the normal latitude if they could keep a mic plug on a tiny module...)

well done Mark!

Agree. The one little thing missing that is actually a big thing. Don't really need all the features of the + module. Just want to record decent audio coming from the mixer for scratch purposes.

Mark - I am working on an upgrade for OMODs without the Pro Audio, so that they will include a mic input. I can do it for sure, just need to check on the cost (should not be too much) - but I can't let it slow down getting OMODs out the door and shipping. So that upgrade would have to come after NAB.

So cool! If this is viable, and you're going the 3.5mm route maybe a locking jack is the best option.
I always wonder why these mostly exist with wireless lavaliers... because if the 3.5 is locked, I think, it's a decent connector.

Is there any chance of getting an antenna that is on the side or integrated into the OMOD? Having them at the top takes away room for mounting AKS (on a camera where there is already very little) and will lead to lots of antenna L&D.

Also, will there be an option to change out the 4-pin Lemos? I do not use 4-pin. Ideally my OMOD would have two 3-pins Fischers and one 2-pin Lemo.

antenna placement is specific as we have wifi, timecode and fiz in some units. Check out our top plates for OMOD - I think you find more room than you need for AKS, especially since you don't need to velcro as many boxes onto the camera - I'll be posting some pics of real-world builds as we get closer to NAB.

4-pin Lemo connectors are for motors.

3-pin fisher is power + run/stop - I took the 2-pin LEMO's off of the OMOD itself - as they are on battery modules from RED & ET and ours will have both 3-pins Fischers and one 2-pin Lemo.

THAT is a fantastic idea

+1 on the audio mic and it would be great.

Awesome! Probably the wrong question to ask, but any idea how long after NAB? Trying to decide what road to take for expansion modules and April already seems so far away... ;)

I would love to see a bundle with an Omod, an Rtmotion handset, and an Rtmotion motor and cable.

maybe call it the "Starter Pack"

A deluxe starter pack could have OMOD, OMOD video tx, Paralinx or Teradek Rx, handset, motor, cable, and a latitude MdR for use on non-WPN cameras.
