Mark do you have any plans to release a P-Tap -> USB cable?
http://www.adorama.com/TEBIT708.html
can i use this one to powering hot link? or this --> http://www.paralinx.net/store/2pin-lemo-2pin-lemo
? any help
Kemalettin - both of those cables are perfectly fine to use to power the HOTLINK.
thanks what about this one? http://www.paralinx.net/store/jst-power-cable
since they were cheaper than offhollywood cables thought they might be different.
It will work fine - that cable has an "off brand" - it's a "LEMO compatible" connector - not a connector made by LEMO - that is why it's cheaper. OFFHOLLYWOOD only uses LEMO connectors - which sadly - are not cheap.
Before step 4 you need to connect the iPod to the Ad hoc wifi network 'hotlink' created by Mark's device.
2 weeks going on with the HOTLINK, and I can't express how great this product is, especially paired with Mikael's software.
It sounds like HOTBOXES should be shipping soon. So in preperation I need to order some cabling for the damn thing. Mark, if you can jump in here I have a few specific questions:
1. For powering my ET WMD motor driver is there any reason to go with another cable other than a 2pin-to-2pin lemo cable? Is there ANY advantage to going with a 4pin-to-2pin, or am I overthinking this?
2. The DSMC cable kit is a Y cable that goes into the sync and cntrl ports, to allow for timecode syncing. However for those of us interfacing with preston MDRs, or my Element Technica 3-axis setup, that would eat up the sync port to allow for remote start/stop. So the question becomes, what cable is required to do R/S via foolcontrol?
Would it be this cable? https://offhollywoodny.com/store/cables/hotbox-to-red-dsmc-camera-cable/
Mark, so to recap:
1. Get 2-pin to 2-pin for powering the ET WMD, correct?
2. There will be a cable solution for allowing both foolcontrol AND R/S via the ET unit, correct? Would that mean two cables would go from the hotbox to the ET WMD (power and a sync cable)?
I'll wait till you have that cable ready to go.
Are we looking at december for the hotbox at this point? or is end of the month still possible ('possible' to give you some wiggle room in case that slips)?
It takes the CTRL port for WIFI via serial and the the SYNC port for TC and R/S. There is another cable - specifically to connect to the ET WMD that is not in the store yet - but we made one to test for Greg at Digital FX - and it connects the ET WMD to the HOTBOX so you have Run/Stop via the ET unit and also via Foolcontrol.
yes
It's one cable that connects the HOTBOX to the SYNC & CTRL ports + one cable that connect the ET WMD to the HOTBOX (that cable exists - just is not in the store yet)
Still possible - but I'm fighting the Thanksgiving holiday. All I can tell you - we are on a full court press to get the HOTBOXses out the door - we have several VIP rental house clients that purchased initial units to evaluate - so ... we are motivated and pushing hard. Very, very close. That's all I can say. Doing my best and a little more![]()
