  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

OFFHOLLYWOOD HOTLINK + HOT TAP + HOTBOX R/S WIFI for RED DSMC cameras

hey mark hope you are well, could you tell what the current FW for the hotlink please - i am getting a lot of drop out using fool control on my iPhone - it may not be the FW but need to start somewhere to identify the problem

I am having the same problem. I am trying to use foolcontrol on my iPhone 6 and other times using my iPad air 2. Constantly dropping connection and then reconnecting. Makes it difficult to operate and sometimes I cannot cut the camera and have to reboot the software or restart the Wi-Fi connection. Any advice? Thanks Mark!
 
I am not having any luck getting foolcontrol to pair/connect with HotLink. Followed directions carefully.
I have scanned endlessly

Also put in the manual IP 10.10.100.254 Nothing

Have OS X 10.9.5 (13F34) On 2013 nMp. It see’s Hotlink in wifi drop down.

Epic running 5.3.29

Attemping to connect to iphone 6+ and iphone 5 and iPad air 2 running latest FW

Have Epic set to Redlink command protocol

Blue light on Hotlink working

Any idea what I am missing??

I was in the exact same situation as you Frank and I had a bad serial cable on my first order, but that was a while ago. Mark has AMAZING customer support and service, and once we troubleshot what the problem was (via telephone), I had a new cable the next day.

Frank,

One last thing to try, go into your iPhone WIFI settings to your current router and tell it to forget that network. That is what did the trick for me. Hotlink doesn't like competition and your current setup might be fighting it.
 
Good to know. Mark was awesome about diagnosing my Hotbox, which has been amazing.

Hey guys... this thread as a lot of pages so maybe the answer was there and i didn't see it. sorry if it's the case.

I have a Hotlink powered by a genuine Anton Bauer battery plate and a genuine Anton Bauer HD battery. Sometime i use a genuine Anton Bauer P-Tap splitter. The P-Tap power cable I use is the one sold by OffHollywood (I have 2 cables and I tried both)

At this point I have 3 Hotlink who died on me and i don't understand. When the 1st one died, OH told us it was a problem with 5% of the 1st batch of the unit. The same day we subrent a Hotlink to finish the day and 4h after using it it died like the my Hotlink.

OH send me a new Hotlink in replacement of my dead on, and it work for a day of shoot and it died again on the seconday... i'm quite confuse.

i power a lots of stuff on this Anton Bauer Splitter and on the AB plate (smallHD monitor, Odyssey 7Q, Bartek FF, preston FF, micro force zoom gun) and i never had any problem with it...

any idea what can be the problem?

and is it normal that the foolcontrol app (iphone, ipod & mac) is disconnecting from the camera all the time? I used this set up only in studio shooting at a 20' distance.
 
Frequent disconnect is not an expected behavior.
Sorry to hear about your HOTLink issues... OFFHollywood support is usually very responsive so they will certainly be able to help you quickly...
 
Question if I have a RED SWITCHBLADE-M Why should I need a Hot Link? Didn't have time to read all 48 pages

Tony, for example any situation where physically accessing the camera either takes too long, or becomes too much of a challenge. Gimbal work, remote head work, technocrane, etc.

For example when a director/client asks for playback on a take, yes you could go grab the gimbal, and then try to scrub through footage that way, or you could simply open up an Ipad and scrub to that section without every laying a hand on the camera.

In my case technocrane, when I don't want to climb up a 25' tall ladder just to access a RED Touch.

Just purchased Hot Link. What is the shipping time to receive? 3 week gig with lots of gimbal & crane operating starting on May 25th.

Mark, does it look like it has the possibility of shipping out before the?
