My Dragon OffHollywood's files workflow explained in the pictures:

R3D file imported in PS6 and opened in RedLogFilm with original ISO, WB, K and other settings...

The file opened in Nik Software Color EffeX Pro PS6 plug in, preset Film Modern, Fuji Superia 1600, set to grainless 500, Brightness 30%, Contrast 30%.

RED Dragon shot with a film color stock evaluation: Fuji Superia 1600 set to grainless 500, Brightness 30%, Contrast 30%.

That's all.

Hope you'll like it!!!

P.S. Don't forget that to get an excellent image in a low light you would need an extraordinary lens swapped on an amazing cine digital camera.

In this particular case was shot on one of Leica Summilux-C T/1.4 prime lenses!!!

That means the glowing fire flame of matchstick was in a nice control of both, Leica lens and Dragon sensor,...

Some people I had a talk before were complaining about the OLPF light flare on the image

and right now we still do not know if RED is going to address that issue with Dragon sooner or later.

See it clear at the image below:

Both the vimeo and the 4k movie suffer severely from compression. Both unacceptable IMO.

Will, if you download the original .mov from the Dropbox link, there is no issue. It's prores 422HQ. Do not just play the file directly on Dropbox, click download and view it on your own player. Every internet player will show compression issues.

It appears that Red did some interesting things with the old OLPF flare look with the new OLPF in Dragon. On 18-100mm primes I have been able to have flare appear as a singular blob, 4 point star-ish growth, and with a very tiny and sourcey light real close you can get OLPF dots sort of shooting out of the source in the image.

It's going to likely depend on the lenses themselves, but it is a new look overall.

i kind of like the flare... but i can see how it could be an issue, although it is possible to grade it away in the rgb channels - sometimes easily

here's a good extreme example of it on my scarlet-x where i felt it really added to my shot, hdrx partial solar eclipse timelapse as seen here (:

I'm sure that RED is still working on new OLPF design just because Dragon should be a perfect cine digital camera

that will be used for shooting the future's biggest blockbuster in film history like an Avatar sequels...

They might be. It is user replaceable. The new Dragon OLPF is indeed better all around. The IR Cut is extremely powerful. I can't stress this enough.

The flare is also "more interesting" with the Motion Mount attached too. Little circles at smaller apertures.

For me it's just a different character.

Phil you are right but also must add here that the competition like an Alexa, Canon or Sony don't have that issue at all

and we all know how the cinematographers are picky on that optical artefact that can be mostly one of the highest points in a final decision of the camera choice...

I'm saying it loud now here just because is still not too late to fix that very important thing in a cine camera design.

It should be one of the highest priorities to get fixed on Dragon!!!!

Thanks for sharing Mark and AJ, great looking stuff. I want to swing by next chance i get, is Corey with you guys now? Been fun to watch you guys expand over the years. Cheers.

After shooting Dragon all day on Saturday - photographer Pieter Henket - who captured the image of Lady Gaga for her debut album “The Fame” - said "this was so fun and amazing I have no desire to shoot with a still camera again". That's pretty damn cool IMO.

These have been great samples/examples. Nice work and hats off to you guys!

Thanks Phil - means a lot from you. We are having fun like the old days when M shipped and then MX shipped - Dragon really takes everything to 11 - the camera is such a crazy good time. As you know :)

Thanks Mark.
