You owe me a keyboard for that one due to the ice tea that shot out of my nose!! Don't worry, it's a cheap Dell:)

Can anyone at RED comment on whether current plans call for the completion of Stage 3 in the EPIC upgrade path prior to launching the next camera - Scarlet 2/3"? Just curious. I'll understand if this info needs to wait until the Nov 30 announcement. Thanks.

I thought about it.

Not sure they have the manpower to beta test Epic and Scarlet 2/3" at the same time...

Beautiful....
What are the specs?

I wonder if RED has any plan to refurbish and sell the traded-in RED Ones at some point in the future? I realize that the longterm future of RED lies in the modularity and expandability of the new product lines, but it seems like there would be plenty of people interested in acquiring a factory-updated RED One with a Mysterium sensor in the short term. It would also be a way for RED to recoup some of the expense of offering and administrating the trade-in program.

beautiful stuff guys, the fixed lens, I shunned it for so long, but that my god, is a piece of artwork!

that was my original assumption as well. sounds like they're attacking on all fronts though. should be interesting to see what is announced in 4 weeks.

I imagine some (a lot?) of the beta testing with the EPIC will be applicable to other iterations of the DSMC line, so that probably helps some. exciting times.

This removes a lot of the worries. The first impression based on the announcement was that the Scarlet would be an after-thought and wouldn't be released for another year soon as the EPIC was finished delivering. Thanks Jim for putting our minds a little at ease before the November announcement!

As always, you do a great job appeasing your customers. A couple questions (unless they've been answered already) --

Will the EPIC-X beta program relate directly to the Scarlet 'beta' (in whatever form it might take)? Obviously all the accessories that function for Scarlet work with EPIC so those will all be tested thoroughly. So will the Scarlet actually need a beta release or will you just test a whole bunch of the brains to make sure they don't blow up -- since you'll know that the other modules are in working order?

Just curious. Thanks!
