Re-reading, I went back and finally realized that the two black holes on the bottom front of the brain aren't bolts, they're two 1/8th inch mic jacks. And that there is a mic in the front of the Gunner. Go figure.

Im gunna say it will be the group with the first 50 cameras...
the pioneers..

Of course, if we have too few beta testers, then, essentially everyone becomes a beta tester.
Far better to have too many beta testers, than too few beta testers.
Being a pioneer doesn't necessarily make you a better beta tester, than the guy with serial number 6877.
As Jim said, "The Big Boys know who they are."

In regards to Jarred saying no one has noticed something about the render with the gunner and lens combo, here's what I noticed: ...
Are we looking at a fixed lens Epic?! Or is it something else entirely and the render is just that of the fixed lens Scarlet?

so let's assume it's the scarlet fixed because that makes the most sense of it all. so what we have here is the first post of the new fixed lense scarlet if I'm not mistaken :willy_nilly:
then there's the 3'6" marked in red... lighting up or just colored when selected?

and then... just maybe ;) ... the kit might include the gunner. (because of the mic making the camera ready to shoot - that's what was the initial idea behind the fixed lens if I remember correctly)
... I never thought they would get myself to post wild speculations... it's all your fault jarred :cheers2:

I'll be prepared for this post to disappear again :D

Yup stereo.

Actually, What if the fixed is a whopping Full Frame camera?
That would make sense with a 25-200mm lens.
25-200 would suck for wides on s35, I forgot about crop!
Am I on crack? (where my tin foil).

at least someone agreeing with me. :) jarred already confirmed... ;)

no that is a different mic in the gunner.. :) The snap in mic is much more low profile and hugs the body....

Jarred, will there be a way of adding a more traditional FF knob to the Redmote, or for that matter a way of a third party wireless knob interfacing with the camera?

A nice little bracket with handle one one side, space for the Redmote in the middle and a rotary focus control on the other would be fantastic.

So its official Fixed Lens scarlet is S35 then.
(you guys re-did the brain chassis?)
No way a 2x mm lens will be wide enough on a 2/3 inch camera.
Well it will certainly justify the price increase to scarlett dreamers.
A 25-200 seems like an amazing reach. F3-4.5 ish isnt unobtainable at this price point.
It will also, with red gunner, assuming it functions like a zoom controller, make mixed shooters like Gibby (or me) very happy.
We have dreamed of s35 ENG lenses for some time.
Wicked "B" or "C" camera too.
Thanks for listening.

I could be wrong though...
I don't really understand why you're imagining all this...
Nobody ever said this was a picture of the fixed lens Scarlet version. Just because you can't see the lens mount doesn't mean there isn't one. Look at a Canon or Nikon camera, I don't think you'll see the lens mount neither.
Plus, this picture appears in the "Epic X" page.
Plus this zoom seems to be a 24-75mm, which is definately not 8x.
Plus, Jim mentionned the 2/3" fixed and interchangeable models many times in his posts :

Scarlet 2/3" Program. Given the recent new VDSLR releases, we have decided to up the capability of the Scarlet 2/3" Fixed 8x and interchangeable models. Several new features are being added that will NOT impact the release schedule (anymore than it would have been otherwise) but it will mildly impact the pricing. We should have all the details ready by the end of this month.

Pure speculation, My thinking so far.
If its epic, then it has either PL, Canon or Nikon mount yes?
If no mount then fixed?
If fixed then its scarlett based.
Lens is 8x (confirmed).
I see a "2", the rest is hidden.
In 2/3 inch format, you aren't going to see a 2.x mm zoom anywhere.
Zeiss's excellent super wide prime is 3.9mm.
A wide would be 4.9 or 5.x mm. More like likely 7.x mm like most eng kit.
so the 2 is for a double digit twenty to something zoom but 8x
24 or 25 mm is pretty standard on the wide end, times 8 is about 200ish mmm.
Just my Crack addled brain talking here.

Of course ,maybe reds zooms negate the use of the mounts. Then all bets are off.

it's a "24" if you up the exposure a bit. ok so math is your magic. :) that does make sense...

I don't believe they would make zooms attached to the adapter plate because you couldn't use the lense on anything else. which would make it work against their beliefs as far as I understand the red concept. but as a speculation: it could be possible anyhoo...

...which guys.....?

Surely...
