  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

He's got 6k now which is probably equivalent to being the first to 8k resolution... maybe more, so resolution probably is sufficient. I can understand wanting that on a Weapon body with some of the Weapon internals boost, but otherwise he's had a higher res camera long before any of the rest of us.

If he could just somehow get his sensor into a Weapon Forged body then maybe that gets him where he wants to be?

There is no question that there will be a 8k Monochrome in the future, but not right now.

Let me take it back. If you want a Monochrome 8k right now, you'd pay well over $200,000 for it, because at this point in the manufacturing process that's how much it would cost to make the Monochrome sensor. I don't think some people realize just how big of a leap the 8K sensor is. So Monochrome 8k will be well after the 8K color versions are caught up and shipped to everyone that has been patiently waiting. Now if you wanted to upgrade your Monochrome Dragon to Weapon Color 8k, of course that is an option.

Zeb i'm not signalling you out.. I've known you forever and appreciate you as a member of the community, not because of how much money you have spent as a customer. But when you ask about future products and future roadmaps and when you don't get an answer you throw a temper tantrum and stomp your feet and proceed to throw out a bunch of misinformation, you are not going to get any sympathy from me. I think we are very generous to our customers with not just upgrade paths put with open access to information and direct dialogue, more than any other company , so it is unfair for you to push for more more more.

P.S... Just because you start a thread with " Respectfully, " doesn't give you the right to proceed to be a dick to others that are doing nothing but trying to help you. I don't care if you have spent a billion dollars as a customer with us, If that is how anyone wants to treat others I'd rather refund all your money and not have you as a customer at all.

Now I know that's not the kind of person you are... I really know you are a good guy, and not trying to be malicious. You can be rather opinionated some times ( I am guilty of the same ) but you do way more good than bad here and I know alot of people respect you for it. Maybe you just had a bad day and needed to vent. Maybe for whatever reason you think we are trying to fuck you over.

Whatever the case... just remember we are all in this together.
 
There is a thing we say in Italy. "Sentiamoci a voce" it means let's talk, but more literally, let's hear each other's voice in a conversation. Often, Italians try to talk about things in person rather than risk the tone of an email or written words being misinterpreted.

as I was reading through this thread I kept wanting to just suggest a 2 minute phone conversation or a little private e-mail.

Sometimes, some things are not best resolved on RU with a bunch of people chiming in. That's not trying to sensor or anything, but maybe sometimes it's genuinely better to reach out in other ways.

It can save a lot of agro.

i think the 8k mono weapon is going to scare the shit out of people.

Ah, last years thread, that explains why it is not at the top.

While we have you on the phone. We really appreciate all your efforts to bring about great products to the industry that had gotten to a stage of have and have nots. A lot of have nots bought and by the sounds of it made a lot more money, good on them.

But there is something I hear raised multiple times, about clarification of defunct projects. The projector, redray, the fixed, the pocket, the firmware 3D, that extra wide 60mp or something sensor. Though most interest revolves around redray and the projector, it would be good to know the eventual fate of any of them. If something is coming around sometime no sooner than a certain date, possibly a lot longer, then it would be nice to know. No promises on a date, just a don't hold your breath.

Small squashed mini Liquid lens multi focal with 20 zoom and as close to f1 aperture as possible. For B cam, action, live and general video work.
 
I suspect RED will let allow some its unrealized tech to marinate in the secret RED Silo until there is a bit more vertical integration. I expect tomorrows peripherals to have a lot more wireless stickiness. So hopefully, not all will lost. Certainly work on the fixed lens 'unreleased' model helped bubble up to its incarnation of the Raven and overall camera compactness.

The RedRay/Projector was the ideal client presentation tool. But that's neither here nor there. NAB2016.
 
16k projector now, 8k is so this year. :laugh: I have an instant use.
 
Make a full set of Global dynamics lenses / super sturdy canons with same front diameter and some rock solid small filter tray / mattebox with little flags.

Think 2016 is the year when people will go nuts over fool control / wifi lens control. 8K and that stuff is really something.
 
Nope, 2001 the year of 1k SD 16:9, 2016 should be the year of 16k. :)
