  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

this is the REDvolution mannn! if i wanna take a freaking BOMB on the airplane... well ima do it! just step outta my way or somebody gets blown up!

(please note that if this is ever used in any kind of criminal lawsuit the intentions were purely satirical - I have no intentions of bringing any explosive devices on an airplane - EXCEPT THE FREAKING EXPLOSIVE NEW CAMERA SYSTEM! HA!)

hehe... Although by then (25 months) who knows what Red will be announcing :) ya know, with this package on the table, they can focus merely on brains and lenses.. and take their time updating the accessories...

hmm... theyre gonna get bored with that. I see TV's and Projectors coming! :P

Nope, my plan is to wait for scarlet to wow every wannabe filmmaker out there, who sells their HVXs etc for dirt on ebay... which i calmly upgrade to. And then make my footage look better than theirs since they have no idea what theyre doing with scarlet. Maybe.
 
Kind of depressing really. Next summer for Scarlet? Blah. Feels like the RED One delays all over again. Oh well, at least RED One rentals aren't too bad price-wise.

But I think RED RAY PRO more than makes up for the camera delays, it seems like a really interesting device, I just hope it can work in some way with other cameras besides RED. Heck, if it could work as a stand-alone production device, like a 12 channel audio mixer/recorder, then it will murder the competition. Only mystery is the price! >.<

Can you change Soccer Mom to Tom Cruise? He used to shoot his kids soccer games on a hvx200.

I also don't think this'd be a problem anyway.

Let's face it... terrorists have obviously got some mental problems... but outside of Warner Bros. cartoons nobody writes BOMB on their bombs...

The reason I am asking is because I want to use flash cards with my 2/3" cinema but I definitely want to be able to take advantage of 120fps and 150fps burst. Will flash cards be able to handle this?

That might be worse, the gaff tape will make it look like you're trying to hide the bomb. he he.

The 16GB cards can't record REDCODE 100. The 16GB cards can however record REDCODE 42.
 
Given the 2/3 inch chip, I suspect that 35mm still or film lenses will not be the best choice of lens for the Scarlet.
I haven't done the maths. I'm sure others have, but I guess that a 35mm still lens focal angle will be at least doubled when used on the Scarlet.
Also, one will only be using the centre portion of the lens, and the lens was not designed for this.
The only lenses I can think of that should be instantly compatible are those designed for 2/3 inch video cameras, machine vision cameras, or 16mm cameras.
The problem with the 2/3 inch video camera lenses is that many weren't designed for high-definition and won't have the required resolution.
But machine vision lenses or 16mm lenses should be quite usable.

The common mounts for these are 'C' mount, PL-mount, and maybe Arri bayonet or Aaton mounts.

May I suggest that if there is a schedule for releasing lens mounts that 'C'mount and PL mount will be far more useful and should take priority over the Nikon and Canon mounts.

At the moment, in the Nov 30 announcement, no mention is made of PL or 'C' mount, which is surprising.
