  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Next 6 months?

We gave up "soccer moms" when we decided to do "Pro only".

Are there any plans to demo some footage shot with some of the mini-primes?

(also, I have yet to find anyone who thinks that Red has anything less than a pro-only approach to camera hardware - long may that trend continue!)

yes, I only know how they look like, but never seen any footage. It would be nice to see some Scarlet/mini-Prime footage, even if it's only on Vimeo.

Is there a C-Scarlet prototype existing at all?

So, is this correct?

There is still a "Scarlet" of some kind. However the Scarlet 35 is now the Epic-S? So for sure an Epic-S is coming out, after the Epic-M's are caught up in production, and maybe there will be something called Scarlet after that?

Duh yeah!

Epics are S35mm models, Scarlets are 2/3" format models only for now: one with a fixed zoom and one with removable lens mounts and mini-primes.

So Epic S will be available before Scarlet?
Nope, that is not the impression I get from all the info on this forum. The Epic S will need alot of rework to make a "cheaper" version of the Epic X (essentially the Epix S is a cheap Epic X, with a lot less functionality). Will the Epic X ship before the Fixed Scarlet... I'm not sure, seems to be 2 different things, might be both at roughly the same time.

Even though the two models are identical on many levels, it is not the same camera, and have therefore been developed simultaneously.
From what I understand, all the three Epic models will be out before any of the Scarlets. But the reason why we're not sure is probably because nothing is official yet.

We don't hold finished product back... that is a " normal " company thing to do. We will ship when the cameras are ready... but remember we are developing them at different times with different production timelines.. EPIC-S for example is new different hardware than the EPIC-X and EPIC-M is different hardware than Epic-X. its not like we are just putting different stickers on the same camera depending on the date :)
