do you mind for a small cutanpaste
thanks

The Compact Prime CP.2 lenses are the latest members of
the ZEISS family of lenses for digital and film cameras. This
second generation of the Compact Prime lenses now delivers
even greater flexibility by introducing interchangeable
mounts that allow the lenses to be used with a wide range
of cameras from traditional cine to HDSLR systems.

  • Interchangeable mount allows a mix of HDSLR systems with traditional cine cameras
  • Full frame coverage (24 x 36mm)
  • Common aperture of T2.1 for the standard lens set
  • No need for adapter solutions anymore
  • Three different mounts available (PL, EF and F mount)
  • High stability due to support bracket, which is included for additional lens stability
  • Sweet spot effect with APS-C sensors
Application:
Switching between traditional film and digital PL cine cameras and HDSLR cameras is no longer an issue. The Compact Prime CP.2 lenses’ improved functionality means
improved ergonomics compared to standard SLR lenses, standard housing dimensions, standard focus and iris gear positions, a consistent front diameter, a robust construction,
longer focus rotation and a manual focus, thereby providing the flexibility users demand. With precision and speed - Compact Prime CP.2 lenses are the perfect tool for
Independent filmmakers, professional still photographers expanding their services or large studios using HDSLR’s as a second camera for TV and feature film productions.

Compact Prime CP.2 Lenses High Flexibility Meets
Maximum Quality
The Compact Prime CP.2 lenses are the world’s frst
cine lenses designed for use with HDSLR cameras. The
interchangeable mount guarantees high fexibility for present
and future use in any situation and for a wide range of
camera platforms.
Allows a mix of HDSLR systems with traditional
cine cameras, for maximum fexibility on set
No need for adapter solutions anymore
Three different mounts available (PL, EF and F mount)
The Compact Prime CP.2 lenses cover a full-frame
image format without vignetting. Combined with the
interchangeable mount, the Compact Prime CP.2 offers
the possibility to upgrade to any number of existing
or future cine and still cameras while still utilizing the
same set of lenses.
Full-frame coverage (24 x36 mm)
Common aperture of T2.1 for the standard lens set
Sweet spot effect with APS-C sensors
The iris opening of the Compact Prime CP.2 lenses is
created by 14 high precision blades. It stays consistently
round and symmetrical over the entire T-stop range.
This translates into natural and pleasing out-of-focus
highlights and a smooth bokeh. Together they help create
and capture special moments on flm.
The modern lens design as well as the cine manufacturing
process and tight tolerances ensure low distortion, high
resolution and excellent color rendition for sharp, punchy
images.

(1)
The Compact Primes CP.2 and Ultra Primes contain a number of fare suppressing measures, including the T* lens coating, internal light traps and housing interiors
painted with several types of proprietary black paints with different refractive indices. These measures ensure a high contrast image with clearly defned highlights and
deep, rich blacks. For the absolute minimum in fares and internal refections, the Master Primes are equipped with the T*XP lens coating and additional, strategically
placed light traps.
(2)
Master Primes contain special moving elements (Dual Floating Elements, patent pending) and aspherical lens surfaces to eliminate geometric distortion.
This is especially noticeable on wide angle lenses.
(3)
Master Primes contain special moving elements (Dual Floating Elements, patent pending) that virtually eliminate breathing
(an unwanted shift in image size when focus is changed).
(4)
All Ultra Primes have a widest aperture of T1.9 except for the extreme wide angle lenses: UP8R (T2.8), UP10 (T2.1) and UP12 (T2).
All Master Primes have a widest aperture of T1.3 except the Master Macro 100 (T2.0).

And now the 50mm and 85mm are T2.1 ?! Compact Primes I was T1.5... Nwy, thoses lens are really great, but the 18mm at T3.6 is a little bit of a downer, if you plan to use thoses with the RedOne.

Once again, an example for a product which was downgraded not to cannibalize on the higher end stuff... bummer.

Agreed. I thought the speed improvements would have unilateral across the board. The EF and F mount are still hot news. But yea..

You want speed? Pay $150,000 ... S#$t...

I was really looking forward to these lenses. Was even thinking about buying them, but to downgrade existing lenses that were faster to give it a "common" aperture seems silly to me. You can argue all you want whether you need that shallow dof or not, and about how light sensitive these new cameras are gonna be, but all this does is eliminate options. You gain the mounts yes, but now your losing speed, something critical for a lot of DP's out there.

Looks like I'm holding out for the Illuminas.

Keep in mind that by optic/physical law at 18mm you can't get faster and usable speed than T3.6 with FF35 lens.

I am giving it another look.
The first compact 50mm T1.5 was not that great. The compact2 uses the other 50mm T2.1 which is the macro version.
Much better optics at wide open and close focus (thanks Matthew).
The price is supposed to be lower then the initial set. Also you gain the mounts (which is a strong point to me)
So the only downgrade is 85mm, and since the set is not constant 2.1, it makes no sense.
The 18mm is a repeated joke (which was not fun in the first place)
looks like 21, 35 (28), 50, 85 should make a nice set.
I need one set do it all, and I will probable get it.

I'm also looking at it from a rental perspective. The set I think is cheap enough though to give a second look later on when FF lenses are more in demand. But for S35 use, there are a lot of other options I'm looking into. What's important to me is trying to figure out "what would people rent more" to me, for more low budget shooting, it would be inexpensive, good/great quality, and fast.

Really high budget stuff probably wouldn't touch these lenses if they got MP's and Leicas, UP's and Cooke's at their disposal.

Thanks Sanjin for your post.

I shoot both Red and 5D, Arri CP 2.0 will be amazing with EPIC FF35. With Red, the 18mm will have the FOV of around 29mm... thats why i said its a downer.

Arri Compact 2.0 will be more expensive that they mention few weeks ago (even more then the first version), and probably there is not such a visual and big difference between the 2 versions.

Using this with the Arri CP 1.0 may be a solution:

Etienne,

could be that all the parts mechanical with optical design and glass "Made in Germany", Oberkochen.

Version CP1 has a cheaper glass that manufactured by Cosina, "Made in Japan".

@ alexander

if you are talking about FF35 sensors, than I believe at the moment, the CP's are the only ones that will cover full frame, as they are rehoused from Still lenses.

If you are talking about S35 sensors, than you have literally dozens+ to choose from...

Compact Primes are less expensive and physically much smaller and lighter in weight. Sanjin noted the old prices but the new series will be something like six lenses for around $20K. And unlike the RPPs, the Compact Primes will cover Full Frame 35 should you eventually move to that format. Not just 5K, but FF35.

WIll be curious to see how these compare to Version 1.

The latter we had at Reducation and were just really soft...and it was really obvious when images were projected. In fact, the old RED 18-50 blew these away for sharpness and color. weak mechanics aside.

Glad they came up with an improvement because V1 were really weak imho
especially for the money

Hope they are much better optically than Zeiss/Cosina ZF, ZM, ZE,...series...

I already have been owed one Zeiss 50mm Planar f/1.4 ZF two years ago on my R1 but after compared with a great performance of Leica Summilux R 50mm f/1.4 I sold it.

Also a couple weeks ago I tried out one secondhand Zeiss 18mm Distagon f/4 ZM (for Zeiss/Ikon and Leica M) and was disappointed with unsharpness and lot of CA at wide open.
