New timecode slate - Fuze Ti: Fuze Slate

I would like to introduce to you all a smartslate I have made and hope to put into production in the coming months.

Less than one frame drift over 24 hour period. Current testing between four prototypes shows less than one frame over 48 hours, but I will feel more confident in that result once I have more units to test

Hopefully the website will up up and running this Friday evening, followed by the kickstarter campaign in a few short weeks. To start things off...

Features:


- Timecode generator supports frame rates of - 23.976, 24, 25, 29.97, 29.97DF, 30, and 30DF
- Drift between devices is less than one frame (~35ms) every 24 hours
- Sync from other timecode devices (Runs on internal clock after jamming)
- Jam or run off of an external timecode generator
- Easy to set start time and user data
- Standard 5-pin Lemo timecode input/output
- 1/4" TRS timecode input/output
- Adjustable display brightness
- Runs on 4 AA batteries or run indefinitely off of an external power source 5-16V.
- Solid wood clapper sticks makes a clear and sharp snap.
- Solid and sturdy construction. The front panel is made of steel and powder coated with white dry-erase marker surface. The back side is black injection molded ABS plastic and houses the electronics.


- Dimensions - 8.7"H x 8.7"W x 1.4"D
- 2.5lbs with 4 AA batteries

PS. I always like picking up other stuff in the Kickstarter too, personally, I love stickers and it gives people who want to help you but don't have the funds top buy the unit or already have something similar the ability to pledge some money.

Would I be right in assuming that the photos on your site are just of a pre-production model?
Seems to be really rough/unfinished in the images of the slate from behind.
Can we have a better idea of what that will look finished? Some renderings?

I had the opportunity to take the prototype on a test drive last week and the slate is the real deal.

George really has invented a very cool, well priced slate and his attention to quality and accuracy are totally evident, even on the prototype.

Please count me in on the deal as soon as it is ready!

Looks good. You should make sure that it fits in a traditional slate slot on a frontbox. That's kind of a big deal on episodic and movies ;-)

Thanks everyone for your feedbacks and responce I'll try and cover all the questions hopefully I didn't miss any.

Biggest difference between this and a Denecke and Ambient slate is the price. Construction is also vastly different, and uses only 4 AA batteries as opposed to 6.

I've thought about having small stuff like stickers or shirts for the Kickstarter, I just have no idea what to have on them

The photos on the site are all prototypes, however it is a pretty close representation of the overall build of what the production model will look like. Major differences will obviously be the enclosure will not look as rough and raw. Currently the color sticks was printed out of my printer glued on with clear tape over it, the final will definitely not be something I print out myself hehe.

Wont fit the traditional slate slot on a frontbox, and I'm guessing your referring to the roughly 11" wide slot where just the board slides right in? I must admit it's not something I'm used to seeing But at 8.7" wide it would be adding too much bulk to the sides for it to slide into that slot, assuming I understood you correctly That said who knows, if the demand is there it may be an option in the future after this initial launch takes off



Also would like to add that the brightness knob will be changed to a lower profile thumbwheel, so it wont be easily broken off

I hope to get the kickstarter up and running in a couple weeks, dependent on a few changes to the slate itself. As far as signing up for notifications...... I don't know why email subscribtion/notification hasn't crossed my mind lol, I'll need to figure that out and get back to you hehe
