  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

new RED Pro Program...

If someone walked up to me and said, "yo dude, what cine style lenses would you buy?" I would answer, "hey dude, I would get an 18mm, 25mm, 35mm, 50mm, 85mm, 135mm, 300mm, and probably two zoom lenses."

I personally like those focal lengths, they suit my needs. Other people may want more options and it is great they may be available.

The more the merrier! :)

I really would like to know how those can be compared to Master Prime for me a reference so if you couls some thing about that would be great

edit: in fact...the most used lens around were are S4 so it would be nice to how they can be compared

Lenses look fantastic, just what I need.
A wider-than-20 should be high priority, everyone needs this.
18 is nice, I would prefer a 16... (With 18 I will still want a 14; while the 16 covers both bases for me.)

A 10mm is a very difficult/big lens to produce. We don't feel like we can sell enough 10mm lenses to justify the development costs. Better to rent one.

Jim

I can understand that. I must admit that even though I am excited about the 14mm, I will not be able to buy it immediately when it comes out. It is an excellent price for the quality you are offering, I just don't want to be one of the people that request for things they can't buy, and then you are left wondering why they aren't selling.

When I have the bread in the future (after I make some money with the S35 and some primo still glass), I will definitely be purchasing these bad boys! :}

I think having both a 120mm and a 140mm is an unusual choice. I believe most of us are used to using a 135mm. 5 or 10 mils in the longer focal lengths don't make that much of a difference in frame size so making a 135 instead would be a good compromise.

There, I just saved you from designing one whole lens. Now someone has more time to work on the hard ones.

Wow! Looks like amazing lenses! :) My personal dream-team is the 18, 25, 35, 50, 85 and 140mm.
Like Nils J. Nesse, I too would like 16 instead of 18...
Due to economics I guess I´ll start with 18, 35 and 85 when the S35 comes out, and then work my way up to the rest of them.

I'm not trying to complain, Jim.
I'm just wanting a regular set.
An brief explanation from of the difficulties of offering the 18mm, and a rough timeframe for availability, would answer a potential lens customer's comments and queries. Jeez!

Hey Mark.. when you say you want a "regular set" you need to understand just how subjective your statement is.. if you call 10 different rental houses and ask them that question you will probably get 10 different answers.

Regardless... We are very aware of the desire and need for the 18mm.. and it's coming.

You can just pretend you didn't read this thread, go away for 6 months and come back, and you might be a little less disappointed.

When are we going to see some screen shots from these tasty primes! I'm excited to see how jaw-dropping they really are!!

heh heh heh.. i told you it would be a good week :)

Great stuff guys!

Can't wait to see more!

Too much bad news out there, thanks for giving us some good ones!

if possible, can you post some test results.. and let us see how the Red lenses outperform (which) other lenses? do you have any ISO 12233 chart comparison? like this one for example..

We will get someone independent to come in and do the tests and post the results. Trust me... we won't keep this a secret.

You can now officially change all T1.9 to T1.8. :-)

I'm curious as to where the Bomb EVF stands in comparison to the current EVF. Is it a replacement, lower or higher end, an alternative, how do they differ, etc...?

 How the heck do you simply go from 1.9 to 1.8 in one day? Some guy tinkering with the aperature and he's like,

RED LENS MAD SCIENIST
" Oh hey, it was a crumb! "

JIM
In exasperated tone
" Guys, from now on, no toasted bagel sandwiches in the lens room. 'kay? "

This is insanity!
