A public beta version of Clipfinder 2.1 is now available from my web site
www.daun.ch/software/
Version 2.1 focuses on improved render support and adds the following features
QuickRender function with customisable presets
- Create and save presets for common render tasks and render an entire directory of clips with a single click.
- Use the built-in crop visualisation feature to easily and precisely adjust crop settings, taking into account the clip dimensions and the selected debayer resolution. Set a given aspect ratio by entering it numerically or by dragging the crop rectangle and watching the aspect ratio indicator.
- Let Clipfinder automatically adjust debayer resolution (2K+, 1K+, 0.5K+) in order to achieve matching effective debayer resolution when rendering source material recorded with different resolutions (4K, 3K, 2K).
Automated clip import
- Select a directory as a "watch folder" and Clipfinder will keep scanning the directory and automatically add any clips you copy into the directory to the current document.
Fully automated background rendering
- Set up a watch folder and activate the QuickRender function and Clipfinder will automatically render all clips you add to the watch folder. Rendering will automatically be paused while you play back a clip so as not to slow down playback. This should be perfect for creating rushes on-set.
Near-instant update of clips and thumbnails when reference files are updated in REDAlert
- Adjust clip look settings (exposure, contrast, color temperature, etc.) in REDAlert and press ALT-CMD-A to update the QuickTime reference files. Clipfinder will automatically update its clip and thumbnail displays. Use this with the thumbnail view in Clipfinder to quickly achieve matching looks for a set of clips.
Refresh clip references after directory changes
- If you have saved clip selections and comments in a Clipfinder file and have later moved or copied the clips to a different directory you can now reconnect the document to the clips by selecting "Search for missing clips..." from the menu.
Please do remember that this is a beta version and as such may still have bugs. If you find any problems, please let me know. I will try to fix them as quickly as possible.
If you want to get the most out of Clipfinder, I strongly recommend reading the integrated help pages. It won't take long.
Finally, it is worth mentioning that installing RED QuickTime version 3.5 has greatly increased Clipfinder's stability.
Enjoy
