  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

New: public beta of Clipfinder 2.1 - the render features you requested

Very cool, thanks again.
I love the new Render options.

I found one bug so far : The "scale mode" option doesn't seem to work, when I try to render SD I always get letterbox, even when I select 'stretch'.
(on v2.1 Beta 4)

The dynamic debayer resolution is awesome, and the 'pause' button too.

Nils.

Nils,

Thank you for your input. Your help with beta testing is much appreciated, as is everyone else's.

I have just put version 2.1 beta 5 online at

http://www.daun.ch/software

This version fixes the bug you reported and also fixes a problem where the standard (non-dynamic) debayer resolutions where not applied correctly.

Thanks again
Hans

REDRushes and Clipfinder both use the same render engine, RED's command line render tool REDline. Thus, there shouldn't be any speed difference. That being said, Clipfinder has the slight advantage of giving you control over the number of simultaneous rendering task, which may allow you to optimize render performance for your particular system configuration. Deanan from RED posted somewhere that he might add this feature to REDRushes as well.

Cheers,
Hans

Hans, Just downloaded the beta 5. Where is the option to control the number of simultaneous rendering task?

Also, the text does not show when selecting output folder for rendering. Although it did rendered to the correct folder on rendering.

Edit - Just checked again. The text displayed. Not sure what i did the first time.

Once again - Thanks for this wonderful application.

Lim,

See here for an explanation of the slider that controls the number of rendering tasks (third to last section on the page).

You say the output directory path is not shown. Is this directly after you set it in the dialog, or later when you switched back to the preset where you entered the path ?

Best wishes,
Hans

Any more bug reports ?

Any more bug reports ?

Is anybody still having problems with Clipfinder 2.1 ?

Or is it so bad that you have given up using it ?

If there are any open issues I'd be grateful if you could drop me a note.

Otherwise, I'm planning to do some final test myself and declare the beta testing phase concluded next week.

Many thanks again to all who have helped with testing.
Hans

All GREAT!

All GREAT!

Hi there,
We are loving it and haven't found any problems at all. Even though we are expecting them.
Thanks for a great piece of software,
-Ross

The only thing I've come across is that it always crashes when I try to import files from a directory after I've deleted files in an open project.

Hans,

Please, add a paypal DONATE button somewhere on your site. i will gladly press that button.

Hans,

Thanks for coming back to me. Frankly I forgot what I did. If it happen again, I will note the step down. As said, many thanks for this software.

logging

logging

This is an amazing software. Great job. Still trying to figure it out as I'm just starting to dive into my workflow with a million hours of footage. My question (at this early stage) is - can I use this software to log my footage. In other words (what I would like to do is), load in all my shots from folder, go through each loaded shot, enter comments (good take, description of shot, etc) , export or print log/comments, then be able to do a search in one master file later on when looking for a specific logged shot. Hope this makes sense.

Cheers,
Dale

Hi Hans,
still having some stability issues (crashes) when rendering files.
I don't know if it is related, but I was rendering a mix of 4K, 3K and 2K files.
2K+(normal) Resolution, 720x576 stretch, rendering selected files.
Latest macbook pro, 2 cores, Leopard

I don't know what I can do to help. Is there a log file or something that I could send you next time it happens ?

Nils.

Nils,

When it crashes, select "Report..." from the Dialog that appears after the crash and send me the info in "Problem Details" and "System Configuration".
Do you have REDAlert 3.5 and RED QuickTime codec 3.5 installed ?

Thanks for your feedback.

Any chance that the documentation is also released as a single PDF doc (not just on-line) ?
Thanks for a great piece of s/w ;-)

Ok,
I'll do that if it happens again.
Yes, I have both REDAlert 3.50 and RED QuickTime codec 3.5 installed.

Thanks,
Nils.

Dale,

What kind of "master file" are you thinking of ? If all you want is a text file, than, yes, Clipfinder will let you do what you describe. Just remember to save the Clipfinder document every time you make changes to comments, etc.

If you are thinking of it in terms of a large-scale asset management system, then Clipfinder is not what you need.

If there are specific features you'd like to see implemented, feel free to post suggestions.

Cheers,
Hans

Just in case you missed it, the entire documentation is available inside the program when you press CMD-?.

Let me know if you still need a PDF version.

That's very kind of you, Filip. I appreciate it.
Clipfinder is my gift to the RED community. There's no need to send any money.
If you want to do me a favor, send me a snapshot of Clipfinder in use on one your projects and allow me to post it on my website.

And if I ever get to Warsaw, you can buy me a beer :-)
Cheers,

Hans
