  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

New project...

I'm still trying to hunt down a Samsung design that could record the direction of light for 3D, to assess it for use in my pocket design.

I was holding out before posting, but I'm still curious, too. I'm all for humanitarian efforts, and will support that process in any manner that I can. Or actually, whatever you guys decide, I'm there. Jim/Jarred/Brent, you know how to find me. :)

BUT...

It would also be cool to see a working Alcubierre drive.

The NFL stadium proposal for the Raiders in Las Vegas needs another investor. Preferably one that is not directly connected to gambling.
Principals only. Jim?

I smell a NAB to November announcement at this late stage. Maybe he bought craft camera and is going to release something based on his camera phone, to save space and time. :)

On my regular crawl through the internet looking for a mountable multi focal liquid lens on sale, I found this two Samsung liquid lens stack invention:
http://newatlas.com/samsung-liquid-zoom-lens-plans/16851/

Now, why doesn't the industry have enough sense to make mountable lens and professional cameras like this?

Yep. But imagine a lens sticking out of your weapon, epic scarlet raven () a few centimeters that replaced most of your lens set. The issue is to make it big enough, but somehow I think that's possible. Wouldn't that make a scarlet worth buying even more, or worth buying a lens like that for a $1000, that would normally could be sold for less than $500 in somebody else's hands. However does this and controls the patent, has hundreds of thousands potential stills customers looking for a simpler lens system to own.

I'm kind of looking beyond current camera boxes. I just think the new multi lens array camera ideas are where we are headed. '-)

But for most, your point vis a vis a Scarlet, RAVEN, WEAPON equipped with a double liquid lens would be desirable.

Yep, my designs are moving towards multiple lens. But thinking of today cameras the kens is something I've waited for a long time, and something Red users can relate too. Personal, direct me to liquid lens ready to use mountable camera modules. We are talking maybe 1/2cm wide units. Problem is to make 4-9 module camera requires a special custom rig at high resolutions. I can get a credit card sized board that could handle and extra wide 8k format from the combined specs, but is meant for 6 or 9 cameras for drones. So farming out sensor data to a multiple interfaces means another level of parts and customisation. But I just realised one of my methods that could do that. So, a 8k high-speed lens array mobile sized camera is possible. But everybody is a sleep, and the man awake on his own might as well be asleep.

But imagine, if no over brand of camera has thus but Red models, then Red becomes the most desirable.

I forgot, the new 20.5 stop Panasonic sensor (if only that was in the GH).

Have any of your designs or ideas ever made it to the market?

I wonder why Samsung hasn't pursued development of this lens tech? IIRC, the patent was filed in 2010? Maybe they were only looking at it as a phone lens which of course wouldn't work due to size.

I assume at least as much as yourself, oh presumably rich man with an opinion that can do so :)

Now, back to a question from a realistic fellow. Remember the note 3, I think it was had some sort of luqyud lens system thliquid it well. They latter canned their stills camera line (pity they didn't do a cheap 2/3rds pocket camcorder with a liquid lens). But companies make money on accessories, like lens sets. So their might not be much incentive in the stills market. However, Samsung has a patent they could license to Red or Sigma. I think size is an issue with liquid lens, so it might cost a bit of R&D money to scale up, but it's worth it. Besides, they might as well make money out of it before the patent expires and then Chinese or Indians flood the market, or even introduce their own design early. The issue is that, sorry getting dizzy, so I'll leave it

We'll, unless something is substantially deviant in some way as to be unlikable rather than likable, what is not to like. So, film optically I like, as I do weapon, which I like better depending n the film, but 24fps 180 degree shutter , and large amount of grain I hate, and the 12 stop low dynamic range I'm not fussed on, but it depends on the filming situation. So, yes, I hate so called 'film look' more than film.

Thanks for posting that, (really interesting). Not sure that it's directly connected to 'New Project", but if anyone happens to notice Jim having given up cigars and spending an unusual amount of time scampering on treadmills and taking high g flights in Russian X-fighter planes ... Then you might be right. ;-) [I'm sure if he can resist smuggling a Cuban Cigar on board, then it will probably be a successful mission (lol)].

You just had to mention the moon and get Eric excited. :)

The moon? Nah. Not in line with the idea of "Someone will get their lunch eaten", "I am all about the planet" and "This new project will affect everyone in a major way".

He did say, "It has to do with space. And travel. And time. And electronics," but the moon is too trivial compared to that. Unless he bought a part of it and formed a new country called Kekistan.

I say this image affected people in a major way. What if it's a project, not a product?

Well Karim, maybe everybody will be looking at Jim on the Moon, eating Donald's lunch with 500 kilometer high letters spelling out "Private Enterprise" projected from earth, which has to do with electronics and saving time over actually getting them up there and painting them. :)

But Jim really needs my asymmetrical drive system.
