Hey Guys and Gals,

I will be performing a latency and distance test on the TERADEK BOLT http://www.teradek.com/pages/bolt at their HQ's very soon. They are located in Irvine, CA. I will be posting pictures and videos after the test is done. I, along with most of the Steadicam community, are hoping for this piece of equipment to be a real game changer. It claims close to zero latency and 150' distance to monitor/receiver. This may finally be a sub-$7k Tx/Rx that can finally become a part of our standard kit.

I shall keep this thread updated.

I saw this demoed at the OC reduser meetup. It had like zero latency. Liked it much better than other options out there.

I demo'd it at Createasphere (it was mounted to and transmitted to FilmTools-provided gear) and the latency was quite noticeable and the range wasn't great. That's the real reason I'm doing this test. I think (and hope) that The BOLT will deliver as promised so that Steadicam Ops, who already carry an insane dollar-value of gear, can include HD wireless transmission as part of standard kit rental.

Are these available to purchase yet?

From what I'm hearing, emails will be sent to those that preordered, next week.

If you are testing whether recorders can be triggered at the other end, can you also test the filenames match the RED filenames? This won't work with the BM devices unfortunately, but it should work with a recorder like the PIX 240. Not certain if this information gets transmitted.

Cheers.

I have a BOLT and is it dead simple. Plug in the Transceiver to your SDI out, plug in your receiver to the SDI IN of your monitor or device preference and they just work. No menus no setup. ZERO. worked across my office through all the walls with No Latency.

Brilliant, Highly recommend.

Doesn't currently pass the HANC data for flags and metadata but apparently its being worked on which will be a huge bonus as the receiver spits out a clean 3G signal.

I just finished up a week of shooting with my newly arrived Bolt and I have to say it is bad-Ass! I am really happy with it.

It is small (much smaller than the CamWave), no delay, it connects in about 10 seconds and it has an internal battery so it stays on even when you change camera batteries. I was not really pushing the range on this shoot. I had it about 30 feet from each other on a stage with a stage with flats, lighting... in-between.... and it worked great.

I would defiantly recommend it! I might need to buy another one myself.

Cheers,
Rich

Got the Bolt, it works really flawless. Plug and play, picture start to break up when going quite far around the corner of a city block....

One question though, has anyone tried to power it with the +1? Is that a solution for us that like redvolts?

Christopher Barrett has his working using only redvolts...pretty nice to see this! Here's the thread, which also includes a link to the cable he purchased to make it work:
