  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Apparently it doesn't update the CS6 apps (even if you were on CC CS6), but installs the new apps alongside the CS6 versions. I am starting a download now on my personal machine to see how stable it is.
 
Installing now, albeit very slowly.

First thoughts on Premiere

Much better audio plugin handling, choice of VST folders.

Support for GTX Titan still needs to be added in the .ini file, despite much lower standard cards being in the approved list. Adobe's much vaunted use of multiple GX cards is opaque and non-configurable - either GPU acceleration is on or off, no details of which cards are being used.

Lost my playback output to BlackMagic SDI, and therefore my external monitor. That's not good.
 
On my iMac 27 2012 with GTX 680MX it's truly amazing. No comparison to CS6 at all - it renders fast and playback is flawless at 1/4 with effects and long fades, overlays.. I'm very surprised.
 
Downloaded relatively fast on a 45Mbps download speed.

It does not replace the CS6 programs.
It lives side by side.

I have not edited much at all just reliniking files from another drive.

Having GREAT success with its new search and relink window, new format style or relinkiing is much improved.
As time goes on ill update things that make me happy about it.

Liking it so far.

Are you sure about that? I've still got all of mine (in the Common folder, remember)...

Well that is encouraging...I'm hesitant to sign up still, these days most of my work is done on other peoples stations and I really find it hard to justify subscribing to something I won't be using often enough when my Avid still works great (as does CS5). But if the performance is that much better it does tempt me... At least to try it...Do they still do free month trials or is that gone now cuz of CC?

Premiere CC didn't look in the common folder, so I copied them out of there into the Premiere Plugins folder. Still, the Prodad stuff needed to be reinstalled, as does all the New Blue stuff.

Not getting an option to download AE CC yet. The installation pushed me back to version CS6 11.0, so I had to re-update it to 11.02

Brian, I'm curious, can you tell me how you're finding Avid vs CS in terms of performance?

I'm asking becuase I have MC 6 and CS5.5. And surprisingly, I'm finding the same file H.264 AMA linked in Avid plays back faster than imported and added to After Effects composition.

Do you find the same? Thanks!
 
Guess I'll post some expanded info here.

What happens when you upgrade to the Creative Cloud is:

You get a new Creative Cloud Application Manager that queues up your downloads and installs them. Mine seems to be downloading two at a time.

Thus far I haven't experienced anything being overwritten or deleted.

I did backup everything just in case. I'm still using CS6 on a couple projects and I'm happy to say it seems that everything is playing nicely with each other at the moment.
 
Additional update. Total installation time for Creative Cloud Complete was about 1.5 hours with download and installation (while browsing the internets).
 
Install was quite fast for me, and went perfectly smooth. All downloaded and installed in around 45 minutes. Program is definitely much faster at first glance. CS6 stayed on my computer just fine, which is good since I have a number of projects I need it for still that I can't switch mid project on.

No adobe encore in CC though apparently... kinda sucks, I guess just stick to CS6 Version, I like burning blu rays for client previews out of there.

Red Giant claims they are already compatible, but there installer isn't working for me, waiting to hear back from them on solution.
 
Can you export to different mxf formats. , or are ou still required to buy codec pack seperately
This was something that really surprised me and made me buy other software to be able to export , which was not mentioned when i got cc or must have overlooked ( mmmm don t think so)
 
I will add that locating media in Premiere is so much easier! The UI for this is awesome as well. This will help that my project files jump from one computer to another.

The timeline is much cleaner as well. So far, I like it.
