  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Letus has started taking the preorder for their follow focus.

Was anyone able to see this Letus FF in person at NAB..does the build quality compare at all to Arri MFF-1 ?

I would suggest you check import records. From what I can tell there have been numerous imports from the Chinese company Trusmt..the one that sells the ebay follow focus. Now in all honestly I cannot tell exactly which shipments had what. But if you check the website you can see for yourself. Just google trusmt you will find the link. I believe in consumer honesty.
 
Is trusmt the same company that jacked you for motors? Just curious.

It may not be the Chinese company but the company that "makes" a new follow focus. Just saying they may not be making the new ones but import records don't lie about the past and considering that they look the same one can only assume. It may be that the prototypes are made in China but why really do that? Even on the Chinese site they say they work with a big US company. http://www.trusmt.com/en/index.asp

Oh, it's totally clear to me that these are the same thing as from Letus, I just think maybe the price difference has to do with warranty, support, and QC. I think if we examined everything we thought was a US product but is in actuality something NOT, and completely marked up like over 50% our heads would spin.
 
I agree. Warranty, support, and qc. I really wish there was a law that makes manufacturers of things other than cars have to state the origin country of products that are made.
 
So is Letus just rebranding this stuff? The VF looks identical to the Hawk, and the Cage FF and handheld all look the same too. Of course this could be the same as thos other ebay guys, Wondlan and gini-rigs ripping off Zacuto and RR i suppose.

Don't you have that law? Products sold by Australian retailers that are imported has to be marked with the country of origin as far as I can tell (like "Made in China").
 
Just to be clear... Trusmt DOES not make OEM products for Letus as they claim. They are counterfeit products of sub standard quality. Letus does not and has not worked with this company as Trusmt claims. Legal action has been taken to protect Letus patents. Letus has no problem with being transparent about manufacturing. Wellcome aboard Aaron. I am glad that finally someone from Letus made a statement officialy.
I was asking something like that from James weeks now.I am a fellow customer of yours and one of these guys that have allready preordered your FF unit.
But I can say that I had my doubts for this matter.
Not because some Letus products are identical with Chinese.
Not because Trusmt claims that they were construting goods for Letus.
Just because someone from Viewfactor published an import record showing a trade between companies.

This published 3 weeks ago in another forum.
This matter didn't affect my wish to buy goods from you. I just wanted to know what is going on.
If this is also fake I would like to know about this.And the result of your legal actions against them.

I have just some follow focus in repairing or better saying in tuning. The Follofocus from trusmt distinguishes itself by well processing, but the Letus Follow Focus have one Detail which i will show you in a linked Picture from their Homepage.

Explaining of a Hirth coupling on Wikipedia

This Detail let make the FF from Letus working very good. The Problem by the Trusmt FF is, that you can´t fix the gearwheel very good. You can fix ist, but not good enough.
