  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

New Blade Lights! Group Buy!!

For international customer, do you have the same message ? : "Unfortunately one or more items in your cart can't be shipped to your location. Please choose a different delivery address."

I'm from France.

Its ok. Already spoke with them about that. They will refund the difference.

Thanks Chris! Also I spoke with Kyle. You guys are on it! Can't wait to get my hands on these lights. Now all I need in my kit is a few LED fresnels and I'm set.
Thanks for setting up this GB.

Private message me your email and I'll get you in touch with their international orders person.

Any idea when these ship? Got an email from FloLight 3/15 saying the order is "awaiting shipment" and haven't heard anything since.

Anyone receive a shipping confirmation yet? Nothing on my end and I placed my order March 13th.

All 36"s have shipped (some going out today), and the 18"s are still on track to ship the first week in April (next week).

Got my 36" yesterday. Currently flying to Phoenix with it. I have some interviews on Saturday to film and I look forward to testing it. I will post pics of my setup and frame grabs on Sunday.

Played with it for 15 minutes out of the box while packing gear today. First impressions- bright as hell, I can't even look into the fixture when it's on full and has no diffusion or lens in front of the source. The light has a nice wide spread but barn doors cut the light sharply as advertised. Build quality seems decent. Fixture is thin, about 3 fingers thick, but much heavier than expected, it's basically a 36"x3" piece of solid aluminum. The slots that hold the gel/lens in place has no end-cap, so if you tilt the light the wrong way, everything slides out, which is annoying as hell already, but solved with a piece of gaff. The ballast is also huge, like the size of a dodge ball cut in half. But if the light performs well, it'll probably be worth adding to my kit.

Im really just having shitty luck with anything Kyle is involved with. My first Osee monitor died first shoot and I'm STILL waiting on the free kupo mount that was promised in December. Now my bladelight order gets "lost in the shuffle"...
I think the universe is trying to tell me something. lol

Cameron...I checked with Kyle, and he said you're one of the last orders to come in for the GB...when I emailed the codes, other people placed their order before you did, so that's why you're essentially last on the last. Goes by order stamp, much like RED.

You also ordered the 18"s, which start shipping next week. If you want to switch your order to a 36", that can ship immediately, but you, along with everyone else who ordered 18"s, will start receiving shipping notifications sometime next week.

Thanks for the update Chris but kyle emailed me with completely different info after I reached out to him first. Basically, because I ordered 2x 18" and 1x36" he was going to ship all the lights together, which I don't think anyone was aware of. Meaning I wouldn't get any of my lights until the 2x18" ones were ready.
Did anyone else with 18's and 36's in their order come across this or have you all gotten your 36's first?

Wow, everyone paid for their lights within 2 hours of receiving your email! Thats impressive!!!

Kyle is gonna try and get your 36" shipped tomorrow (he's got no control over the shipping dept).

I'm very disappointed.

I ordered and paid for 2 X 36 lights. I even did as was described here about making 2 separate purchases so the discount code could work. I was in Europe at the time and received a call questioning the 2 purchases. I explained to the nice lady on the phone about why I made 2 separate orders and she understood. I finally received my shipment today and to my dismay only one light arrived. In the morning I had received an invoice for my second light and I replied that It was already paid and I even included a screenshot of my account showing the 2 payments. I asked them to reply and have heard nothing.
So I haven't heard a thing and in spite of doing exactly as was asked, my order got messed up. I hope to hear from them soon and expect some expedited shipping on this.

Edit: After I write this and answered them this morning, all I get is another email with an invoice to be paid. They really gotta get a grip on this...

Kyle is on it and trying to figure out what's going on. Their shipping dept isn't providing accurate information.

Hello everyone,

thank you for your patience, and I apologize for any inconveniences, and take full responsibility for the wrong information going out to Chris. He's only been relaying the information I've been supplying him, and any mistakes we have made should definitely not reflect on Chris, he's done a great job to make sure everyone is taken care of here. Below is a message from Mark - the owner of FloLight, and I want to assure you all everyone at FloLight is working hard to get you the products in the timeline we stated.

Dear Red User Forum Members,

The BladeLight is not only a new product for us but a whole new category of light. Entirely new concepts of optics, cooling, mounting, construction and accessories etc. must be theorized, designed, prototyped and tested. We are committed to getting all of these things right from the start. We sent pre-production test units to a variety of reviewers and leading videographers and received great responses as well as suggestions for improvements. The design is now locked in and we have started shipping the 36” BladeLights. We have had a delay on a part for the 18” BladeLights which delayed their shipping. We expect this part in shortly and will be shipping the 18” units prior to NAB, April 18. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you. We believe the BladeLights will offer you a whole new way of lighting and would love to hear your comments and suggestions about them. If you plan on visiting NAB please stop by for a visit. We look forward to talking to you.

Best Regards,
Mark Ditmanson, President

Thanks Kyle and Mark for the update. And just to clarify for everyone...Kyle said they are expecting the 18" power supplies in this coming week, meaning as soon as they come in, they get tested and the 18"s start to get shipped out, as early as next week!

When you guys receive these it would be nice to know what kind of output you would compare these lights to. Or if anyone already has an opinion about it.

The new BladeLight Manual can be downloaded at this LINK
We will be emailing it those who have already received their lights next week, but I wanted to give anyone a chance here to get it in advance of that.
(There will be an updated manual after NAB)
