  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

New Blade Lights! Group Buy!!

a couple quick questions if you know:
1.) Can more than 2 units be linked together?
2.) When lights are linked do they share one power source (AC and battery)?
3.) When lights are linked are they both controlled together or separately via ios app?

thanks,
-matt

Put me down for one of the 36". Possibly one of each but definitely the 36" for now.

Gotcha down. Do let me know prior to the GB close date if you want another.

Put me down for
1x18"
1x36"

Thanks Chris!

I'll take 2 X 36's

Gotcha down sir!

I'm looking for a lighting solution that is similar in light output as a Joker 200 or 400 (but much cheaper), that also works well for soft diffused light for food and other table-top shooting (high key and low key).
Could a cookie or pattern be clipped to the barn doors?
My ignorance in the science and specs of lighting makes it hard to know if these blades would help fit that need.

Any thoughts or input? And if this fits my needs, would a 36" be overkill for food items like pizzas or salads or would an 18" be sufficient?

Thanks.

P.S.

These are photometrics for the Joker 400. I see the Foot Candle rating, but it obviously varies based on distance. On these blades, what distance is that 465 FC?

Yea, you could clip a diffusion cookie sheet to the barn doors, or throw a flag in front of it as well. In terms of food, an 18" is crazy bright and should suffice for smaller food items, however, if you're wanting a bigger/broader softer source, the 36" might better suit your needs and you could dim or diffuse the heck out of it if needed. Always better to start higher and diffuse down rather than not having enough power.

Chris - I will probably be interested in an additional unit if we get to 30... :-)

I'll put you down for another..we should hit 30..only a few more away now.

1x18"
1x36"

Yes they can be attached both top to bottom and end to end. When they are linked, they can be controlled separately via the app for Android or iOS devices (which is coming soon - and will be upgradeable with all of their current models, so you can use your current BladeLight with future features). FloLight is asking regarding the powering of the unit, if when stacked, can be controlled with a single ballast or not. The 36" draws quite a bit of power, so that one probably can't, but possibly the 18."

Here's a video showing the stacking: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k6kcw5GAD3k

Hey Chris, any idea about the cost of the battery module? Maybe just a ballpark figure? Also, I assume you could only power 1 lamp per power module. Is this a fair assumption?

They are trying to get me ballpark figures on the battery modules as soon as possible.

Two 18" lights can be powered with 1 power supply and can be controlled via DMX, however, if you use 2 power supplies, you can control each light invidually.

Due to the power consumption of the 36" lights, you need to use 2 power supplies.

Ok, I'm in for an additional 18" (total 2) if it puts us over the 30 count threshold. If we don't make it I'll just stick with one 18".

C'mon guys...only one more and we get $100 off each light!

Anyone has an idea if these lights work with 50Hz 220V? couldn't find the spec list on their website.

Added you down for another.

Checking on that for you.

Please put me down for 3 X 18" Daylight lights.
