  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

NAB13- REDCINE-X Professional Build 18 Alpha

We released a 17.4 update last week. Simply run Check for Updates. It's in the Help menu on Windows, and the REDCINE-X PRO Menu on Mac OS.

oh, seems like I had auto-update turned off...
(I sometimes have to go "offline" with this machine ant thus auto-updates can be a pain at times)

thanks for the heads-up on the version number :)
(I'm still on 17.27144 it seems - I'll update as soon as my currently running transcodes will finish)

Decklink card support in RCX seems to be 2k max, there is no option to select UHD or 4k output modes on the Decklink 4k Extreme

Christopher,

Thanks for the report. It's been fixed internally.

System/# of Simultaneous Frames to Process setting does not stick, remains at default core count

This looked like a promising change from 17, but do not see any increase in performance.

Have a 4p/64core system (e5-4650s) and RCX only uses about 9% CPU max when playing 5k @ full
Disk bandwidth (1.2gb/sec) and memory (256gigs) are not the problem.

Chris, sounds like a sweet machine you have there !!!

Sweet, works great over here with a Titan and an Ultrastudio SDI. One issue I finally noticed: RCX knows to flip the image based on the camera orientation from metadata, but the RGB parade scope doesn't get flipped to follow suit. If you are checking values with the cursor, it then comes down to guesswork whether you are pointing to the right place.

On second thought - it looks like messing around with the Clarity control in Alchemy wipes out the application.

I am having repeated crashes on 17.* and this 18 alpha build on load of an EDL.
Any way to sort that out?

I am loving the fact that you can now play directly through the Black Magic Design Multibridge. Unfortuneately this joy is short lived because I am seeing a significant difference in black levels between my SDI output via multibridge and the computer's lcd monitor on which redcine is previewing off directly. Granted, computer lcds are generally not so accurate, even though I have been using this screen to do my one lights when exporting via red cine so far. So in trying to work out if it is the lcd that is out or the multibridge output, I exported a pro res HQ 1080 quicktime file as I usually would and played it through FCP, then switched between the red cine 18 output via multibridge and the final cut out put of the same file at the same export settings. This reveal the lcd monitor black levels match the fcp black levels, whilst the sdi multibridge output at the same settings (function enabled in this build) is considerably darker.
This leads me to believe the current sdi output via multibridge enabled on this build has inaccurate black levels, or at least a different range of output. Is there anything I might be missing here in terms of set-up?
Thanks

Any chance that one day Redcine will offer stabilization and motion tracking based on metadata? Can other software do this already using Red metadata already?
So far, there is nothing out there that uses this precious meta-data.

Downloaded & installed build 18 to play with the monitor out but I can't seem to get it to play nice with my Intensity Extreme. It recognizes the device in the preferences but I'm getting nothing on it after I click the monitor button down near the rocket.

Anyone get this to work? It's connected over thunderbolt if that matters.

would like to know if anyone has gotten video out to work over an Intensity Extreme via thunderbolt. I've tried about every combination of settings I can think of with no luck thus far but it's entirely possible that I've simply missed something easy.

Ethan,

Sorry about the issues you're running up against. We don't have the particular unit you have in house, so I can't personally verify the issues you're running up against. I'll reach out to Blackmagic Design and see if I can work with them on the issue.
