  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

NAB13- RED MOTION MOUNT

[SUP]The next question affecting the use of this technology is, Is there any difference in the read/reset timing of the Dragon sensor compared to the MX? I hope that gains have been made there as well, that would have Dragon owners sitting in a pretty good sweet spot of options.[/SUP]

I'd like to know this too. Imagine it will be a while though. I don't think Red publishes read/reset times.

QUOTE: The question for me is if the real resolution is affected

a optical clear LCD is possible?

My guess, maybe wrongly is that it has been possible for a while. There have been LCD based welder's glasses in helmets for quite a while now. These activate with the welding flash to dark from clear. In Western Australia, there was an outfit developing what was generically referred to in forums as a "spatial filter". It was originally named the"smart" filter and became "live lens". It was an attempt to extend dynamic range of existing camera sensors by interposing a clear LCD panel of many pixels in the optical path. It combined two layers, one a sensor layer which detected light intensity and applied a controllable darkening to its matching pixel area in a neighbouring panel. It likely has been made redundent by modern sensors.

This may have been asked already but will the motion mount work on Epic/Scarlet MX?

Just saw it today as well, really a dynamite pice of kit!

This is an important one.

The RED MOTION mount not only incorporates an integrated 8x Electronic ND filter in adjustable 1/100 stop granularity, but also overtakes the sensors timing to give you a true global shutter. All integrated and controlled by the camera UI. Eliminates Shutter Judder and defeats temporal aliasing.

You really need to come by the booth and see this one working.

$4500. Shipping Fall.

Ordered of course, but Jarred, is it a possibility that this mount, or at list the part that seems grayish in color be Matte Black instead??

We automatically put Ketch down for one of everything :)

please make sure the i/technology works upon release. Seems everytime something is changed all of the data port workings go down the drain.

Looking forward to this mount, but please make it communicate with Cooke lenses, Fujinon Cabrios, Sony, Angie, Red Zooms, etc.

Given that liquid crystal does have a structure, I just have to assume that the folks in engineering are eliminating any possible issues with loss of resolution, possible moiré-type interactions with the sensor pixel pattern when filming certain textures, and possible negative interactions with the OLPF. Placement in the mount will help, but not necessarily resolve all these possible issues.

Since an LC shutter can operate in extremely short cycles, I'm hoping our full complement of shutter angles are still available with the new mount... AND that the firmware will recognize the mount and pass off control of shutter "angle" to the mount when we dial in an angle on the camera.

So, Did anyone see this? I can't find a poster in this thread reporting that they did.
Mark,
I saw it. It was working great. You can adjust the ND in very fine increments, it was pretty awesome. All controlled through the GUI.
