So Red can move a clean room to NAB for comunication purpose,
but need all that non sense logistic by sending back tousands of cameras to US for an upgrade.
Not really environmentally friendly, when thinking about the carbon print cost of such a global process.
Anyway I'm certain there is good reason for that, it still puzzle me thought.

It's not like each camera is going to get a private jet. They'll ship on planes and trucks that will be moving freight regardless. And seriously, the whole carbon footprint thing is a meme that needs to go away.

Any idea when the epic-x dragon will be available for pre-order??

BTW, I would suggest RED owners who don't already have front and rear caps, to do so when sending your camera for upgrade. At lease a front cap anyway.

I agree on the front cap in lieu of any other lens mount than the Ti PL mount, since that's what RED said they will use to test the cameras... but I think there's no need for the rear cap, especially if sending the camera back in the case it came in. Those things are built to stand up to a lot of abuse.

not the upgrade, the actual Epic-x dragon, brand new, in a nice shiny box. For those of us who want to buy a new camera and are still rocking a red one. Not that Im complaining but that Dynamic range has me a little excited.

The "Stages" program that Red did when Epic came out was an enormous gift. I certainly didn't expect them to repeat that sort of a deal.

However, I was expecting price of existing Epic-M MX + Dragon Upgrade = a bit less than new cost of Epic-M Dragon. It's the other way around, even if you're eligible for the $8500 early adopter or bought your Epic-M MX after the price drops. That's a little surprising. On the other hand, Scarlet-X MX to Epic-X MX upgrade is a lot less than I would've expected, so I guess it all works out...

One, a lot of you who pre-ordered SCARLET-for-EPIC-X M-X program should be getting an email shortly letting you know this upgrade program is kicked off and we are ready for your SCARLET to come back to the mother ship.

Two, Lee, on your point below. Just simple economics on our end : ). The cost (time, labor, parts) to build an M-X camera then upgrade sensor is more than cost to build a new DRAGON camera.

Big news. That's going to make a lot of people happy :)

Haha, I agree. I am surprised I was able to post before one of the email recipients did. They are probably busy boxing up their SCARLETS :ihih:

Brent do you have an idea as to how long this process will take?

Lets say you receive one Monday next week.
