  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

EPIC Test Footage 3/4/11

That looks great! I love the handheld feel and that shot at 0:27, the detail is incredible even for vimeo. Between this and the .R3D's Mark posted, I think it's safe to say I got my epic "fix" for the day

EDIT: I just had to add that the noise created by epic is so organic looking and unlike any other digital camera out there, if you told me this was shot with 35mm I would not doubt it...

Nicely Done.
Impressive low lights.

love the look, and the subject. looks great, and really has some mojo to it.

quick question though. the noise in the image looks almost static, almost completely film like grain. Is that from something you treated the footage with or vimeo compression?

or is that a behavior coming out from the camera?

I am pretty sure the grain is coming from some compression / downsizing step. It definitely isn't from the camera

Hey all, here's a link to some footage we shot the other night with the newly arrived EPIC, via Billy Summers! We went around town in the freezing cold for an hour or so, used available light, and went pretty high with the ISO. Some added noise came out in the compression, still tweaking that...
Great camera though. had some cool lenses: Panavision/Zeiss primes supplied by our friend Sunshine. Our friend Ricardo supplied a little face time for the camera as well! More to come!

WOW ! LOVE IT !

Thanks for sharing Stephan. :-)

"Yeah, that bokeh was def interesting, like a triangular/diamond shape sometimes. kinda cool"

Thant would be the signature bokeh from the first generation Super Speeds (T1.4)...3 blade iris.

Really nice stuff.

Do you guys notice the noise that is stuck??? :/ i'd be really disappointed if that's how epic is like at high iso. something tells me it hasn't been black calibrated right.I dont think thats vimeo compression.. there are tonnes of low light high iso stuff on vimeo.. nothing like that. :/ :/

That has to be a filter in focus or an overlay in post.....

i'd be really disappointed if that's how epic is like at high iso

Don't worry. You are more likely to get struck by lightning WHILE getting chewed on by a shark AND having a plane randomly fall on top of you. There is simply no way.
