  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

NAB Recon thread. Feel free to post any product information you come across.

No links specifically by Tilta...you can check out my instagram which has a video of it. redepicguy is my handle

The group buy is right around the corner and my contacts at Tilta assured me the retail will be only $1200. Most things that come in at the price point, especially with a WFF are built insanely cheap and feel that way. This did not whatsoever. Felt great in the hands, and my jaw dropped to the floor, along with others around me, when they told me the price. Group buy will be even more of a savings as well.

Do you know when the OSEE monitor groupbuy will start?
And is the 7" brightter than SmallHD 702? Might wait for that then versus a $999 702.

Was personally hoping for new Zeis Otus focal lengths, but that wish seems to be in vain.

Perhaps..... Something..... Later..... This...... Year.... Maybe....

Regarding the Nucleus, they will have a more expensive, higher torque and touch screen coming later this year. Have no idea on ETA on that, nor its price point, but it will be much more expensive. I'm trying to get my hands on their only unit in the USA asap so I can properly test, so will post details when I can.

For the Osee group buy, I anticipate that one starting within 2-weeks. They want to get back from NaB, then it will launch.

The Inovativ group buy will start next week as well.

Oh awesome! Will specs come out before? The 702 is on sale/refurb for $999 but the Osee sounds incredibly exciting.

Hummmm...... wasn't this a Kickstarter?

Brain got some KICKAss ideas for this year...

i really like the the idea of the wifi iOS solution, not for focus but would be super handy

with the wifi built into the red already would it not possible to transmit over a short range or would it need a new board

My gh4 can do it actually even my lx100

I started this thread hoping to get some good in format I know on new cameras. Everytime I started a thread asking about cameras in past years, not much gets posted, so I left it open. However, this is about the worst year in memory for camera stuff I'm interested in at NAB.

Has anybody seen any cameras that advances cost metrics or the state of the art? Has anybody seen a year 4kp50/60 or 8k am a reel a based cameras, or nvidia based cameras?

Thanks

Wayne.

Got several posts up about new products with videos on my instagram. redepicguy is my handle.

Here are some of my favs and not so favs!

Inovativ Cheaper Cart option coming with Group Buy - will be under $1500 for the 37" Scout NXT. Basically the same as the Scout Evo, just 7lbs heavier, different wheels, and not height adjustable. All parts can be upgraded down the line if you want as well. Starting within the next few days.

Osee Monitors - they have a whole new slew of monitors that are brighter and better built with the same color accuracy they are known for. Their new 15.6" with the soft case is great! More to come from them plus our 30% discount via group buy on any monitor they sell.

consider me first in line for that inovativ gb! just beginning my journey transitioning to scripted realm of AC and would absolutely love to have this.

OSEE monitor sounds great too, jumped in on their original lcm156 and love it. thanks as always for these heads up!

There were a number of things I was going to post, but I didn't want to be negative, so this 19 inch fullhd HDR monitor recorder, is the only one. This is something significant faith the future of film making good (there is that inconvenient term again, the word "film" will somebody be descending from the sky to argue it's use  ), maybe not as much as other things, but at least it is significant. There were other things that were a bit pathetic. In a day and age were low end 8k camera chipsets are out for a few years, it's pathetic don't top companies to have less than full 4kp50/60, or pathetic to offer 180/360 degree high end camera with less than 8k when they blame afford to do more but it is about their product not yours!

Years ago, I had a dream to build a professional quality video camera system on a PC, SD, but hopefully HD) but was dismayed that a 3 chip SD camera head was going good to cost $6k (maybe equivalent to $9k-$12k in today's money). That was the going to fly. But then others came along with machine vision cameras with post HD specs. We all got together for a great time. We saw how a simply PC system could do the job of a 2/4 million camera for a 25th to a 50th of the price. My dream, was a 720p camera with near visually lossless don't doco and some film work. But I saw a need in the industry for such a thing cheap for other people to enjoy, for more people to get better equipment cheaper. So I put myself to the task if seeing it happen, BMhe only ones close to doing it). I knew if we could get a commercial partner on side, we could get $5k cameras systems. That was unfortunately scuttled. Instead we go two higher end players, and these days the helium answers the acceptable performance question. I knew that this would force big players to compete with better equipment, which it did, but without the low end early competitor, it didn't too much. For the price, In a age where 8 stops of dynamic range had become acceptable to give people on low end, plenty of noise and little low light ability. We were during, but living and succeeding, with our audiences watching more rubbish images.

The industry was not responding humbly and offering us cheap product at high prices to maximise profit margin, with low end products even more artificially restricted in performance and features, for their profit, not ours, so they could fight free enterprise, to keep us poorer to feed their mansions. I aimed for real competitors to address the whole industry from enthusiast to pro, to send broke arrogant companies that dealt in this Devi OT I r conduct and profiteering on the misery of others, the artists, the artisans, the practitioners that actually did the work. If you know anything about the real video market, most are way small a day struggle with overpriced equipment. The GH5, and before that the JVC GC-PX100 Full HD Camera, representing the minimum. But even low end companies are not doing as much as they could have. Which has allowed arrogant companies to survive without offering best practices.

But look at all the low end companies, offering better and newer products. As the deluded say, ideas are simple so many people must have thought of it before, then the big companies should be the ones with these products, not less for more. But people don't know what to do with ideas, have much of ideas, and don't have much to offer an idea ("Oh, yeah, rubber chick ends rocket car. I'm going to be rich.. How do I do any of this???") they can't even fix the software keyboard on this phone!!! But it doesn't have to be this way.

It doesn't have to be how the above is done. You can have companies and designs, that make the maximum performance out of the low end technologies with professional performance and features offered as enthusiast products to keep prices low. Then arrogant companies have to compete. So, imagine any product you like with any IP no longer in patent, and eventually it's own IP. Such companies, such kick start erst are doable today, to catch them out. 8k stills 4k pro video cameras for less than $1000 that you can use even get film, and most things less. 4k cameras soon on APU PC's. Your led lights done right. Open standards for software for all IP free testers St all products. Liquid lens hybrids to replace 2/3rds if your kens set, requiring often into now lens that you can balance on one finger, of hide by merely putyjng for fans over it. Phone and phone software that acts as pro video with medium format filming capability through new lens modules. Chips today that offer you GH5 like performance on smaller sensor for less than $500 doable in 6 months time, it in 4 4k small sensor sensors in medium format HD in some time longer. These are the realistic things that could be done. Light 16 is only a mid point, but something a large company could do better cheaper. If only that thing could do 3-5 camera 4k. The test, is a company that can do these things get everybody else. The arrogance, is the denial of these things.

Yep Ethan, that's pretty good. I've considered adjustable before. Let's have a look further, the type of thing that can be done.

First, let's look at a auto track system that you can contract down or stretched to great lengths, that then auto adjusts and is configured, that even has auto high adjusting leg prongs, you can carry in your pocket, or even in part of you backpack. Now, let's say we make a roll up version for even longer lengths, so you can stretch out rings over hundeds of feet from school carry case, even kilometers off a truck. Something that uses the kegs to snake through and over a forest floor, then proposed itself up, that recharged through sunlight (the one might be tricky, due to the need for specific technologies for other features). At the end you could put it in roll up mode and drag it out rolling up, if possible (due to catching on the architecture unless it came made a smooth unit with folded legs and snake like crawling done small spots, difficult) or get it you walk out. That's design direction.

I concluded a drone system could work well. A light system with very low profile liquid lens, and very small camera. Another idea was a stabilise vehicles, where it would sense what it soon, and keep the camera tracking right stability, we are talking get about aiming at track like smoothness. But different situations will prefer different solutions from track, vehicle or drone.

Here you go, it's now official. Oh gosh. July cannot come fast enough. And yes. $1199.

I was planning on getting the Ikan Remote Air 2 for the same price. But I can get it tomorrow if I wanted instead of waiting until July. Should I hold off on that purchase?
