How many of you are really gonna get ur investment back on these cams it is definitely over kill for the web, and such a slow workflow and unreliable cams and heavy as hell, they just eat more money than they make if ur just shooting web stuff, who is ever gonna really see ur 4k footage imax? really? who will you deliver this 4k material too I just don't understand 20k spent for what?

so u all can shoot the same stuff thats all over the web like flowers boats waves bugs allot of over used slow motion, sorry but out of all of you I only see maybe one of you making it big in the industry the rest are never really gonna amount to anything, too much competition out there and scarlet will not give u the edge at all, battery life is horrible ssds are way too expensive, storage is expensive, slow workflow and for what? to deliver a 1080p image in the end! I really hope none of you have to end up selling ur Scarlet because u got in over ur head and cant pay ur credit or bank loan unless ur shooting a feature for the big screen u over payed, and trust me not everything on red looks flawless I have seen red footage look like crap at times in the hands of wrong ppl in the end all the money in the long run u are spending might as well bought an epic and get it over with...

4k is for ppl that need all the help in the world in post because you cant shoot it right the first time so u have to grade the shit out out it to make it look passable. sorry to offend but now after seeing the light have to say unless ur gonna get ur investment back in a month or have a lot of money to burn this camera is not for u ! the scarlet fixed would have been a better choice but now u have a overpriced camera for what?

most of u spend more time on here than shooting, I have seen fs100 beat red footage on the web at times I have seen 5d footage look incredible for ppl who know what they are doing but i'm gonna losse it if I see more red footage of boats flowers and garbage, where is the features or real work who is really paying u all to shoot flowers and waves and please stop using so much 120fps everyone does it it's getting lame now.

Fact most theater only project 2k as it is and with all the sofware bugs epic has u think ur scarlet will really be reliable, I think u all should have waited to see how the scarlet works out there hear reviews and stuff but all of u are so eager to plop down 15k like its 5 bucks wow must be nice to burn money like that, plus 4k tech will be available almost everywhere soon and cheaper you all think that no one can cum out with a better cam than red u must be smoking crack there will always be someone better than u so I bid goodbye to red and all of it's overpriced hype and buggy software RED is excellent for feature films but for internet overkill....

Hve fun getting in to debt and only being able to shoot 12--15min of footage at a time on 64gb and 25-30 min on redvolt not worth all the trouble in the end don't bother tot respond to me I wont read it i'm out peace.....

I added some line breaks for Bart. I'm guessing he ran out of money and had to sell the return key off of his keyboard.

Speak for yourself.

The People who posted "flower" footage are doing phenomenal work with their cameras.

I agree with the statement about the flowers and scenery stuff everyone does that these days especially 120fps done to death time to see some original footage! Dont waste this camera's potential and make replicas of other peoples footage .

Not sure what that statement has to do with anything this young man said?

Disagree- Do all your camera tests so you get the feel for lighting and setups for high speed stuff. Shoot till you can't shoot any more. How are you wasting a camera's potential by shooting with it?

I read the above and come away with two feelings: Bart must be up against it financially and my eyes have just been violated.

Because it's what I have mostly people post online, seems like a waste just to shoot what everyone else is shooting, yes tests are good but all I really have seen is pointless footage with these expensive cameras especially the overused slow motion kinda lost its catche.

HA hAHAhaHAA!!!

Maybe he spent it all on V necks and lensless glasses!

Step away from the computer and go outside! Nobody is forcing you to watch camera tests on the internet, William.

I think the thread may have gotten a bit derailed by Bart's post.

It's fine for Bart to have his opinions but lets have it in a different thread.
I see no reason to ruin Brandon's moment here.

+1 - Congrats, Brandon! As Shane Hurlbut says: "May this camera throw gasoline on the fire of your creativity." (OK- paraphrasing a bit, but the sentiment is still the same)

Why are so rude young man I have done nothing but state an opinion is this how people talk on the internet?

Bart, what changed for you in the last couple months if you don't mind me asking? I remember when you first joined you were the most excited member of the community. Creating 2-3 threads a day there for awhile. You could barely contain it. I only ask since it seems like now you obviously aren't as excited as you were and don't let down an opportunity to jump in with a much changed attitude to something you were once excited about.

Bart,

First did you miss the part about personal attacks on here? I don't think it's fair for you to say who will amount to what. Everyone defines there own success.

Secondly, SSD's are expensive, but you were fine paying for them for a Scarlet fixed. Have you ever paid for a P2 Card? I shelled out nearly the same price for 1/4 the media for an HVX200.

Third, when has there never been a workflow in film? Many members on here have worked with 16/Super 16 and possibly 35...Tell them about a slow and long workflow.

To add some logic to the equation here. No working professional camera operator or cinematographer goes into the field with untested gear. Camera tests are somewhat of a tradition in this industry to test out everything. How actors look on screen, how filtration works on lights, how different lenses work on different systems, etc.....

These flower/dog/cat shoots help the user get familiar with the camera system. Like all new gear, the first stuff out of the gate is going to be tests. The first week of the Scarlet X being in my hands will be tests. Gotta make sure everything is working flawlessly before shooting on something big.

People clamor for new material off new bodies and some shooters are kind enough to share their tests and work to satisfy the crowd. This is a good part about the Reduser community. If anybody wants to see their professional work in execution; go to the movies or flip on the tube. Much of what saturates the free internet video sites is enthusiast through professional work. You get what you pay for in this instance.

The odd thing about the Scarlet in this case is that many already know what it can do if you've had previous experience on the Epic. But that's no reason to stop shooting tests. Especially for shooters new to the system.

Congrats Brandon. I cannot wait until mine arrives. Just a wee bit jealous here.

well i agree in some way. scarlet is for feature film mostly. yes you shoot anything but i,m a movie director and when i,m searching for vimeos. i only see crap. flowers, skate videos etc. i'm like where are the real good footage. i know the scarlet will deliever but i hope most artist will really come out and shoot great films with it. that's what red is for. not for flowers videos. a lot of people just do that and nothing else. now it'S a great time. digital cameras are everywhere. tell some stories.
