Tagged along with Andrew Walker & his RED MX #127 to do a little night shooting with my Canon k35 T1.4 speeds. We originally shot at 3200ISO but Color is currently limited to 2000ISO. I set ISO to 2000, then turned the EXPOSURE value up a little bit to get somewhere near our original 3200 setting. The more I look at 2000 ISO the more I like it. I'm curious to see what the original M sensor looks like at night, rated at 320 up against the MX at 320. When I lowered the ISO of these night shots down to 320, they looked a lot darker than what I would have imagined the M sensor to look like. One cool thing is I normally would have to shoot a scene like this completely at T1.4 but the new MX allows me to stop down to a 2/2.8 and get noticeably sharper imagery out of my vintage k35s. I happen to like the soft open look of the lenses so kept this whole test all the way open. There is a telephoto shot where we're panning across the skyscrapers, you will notice the light value changing slightly. That is me rocking between T1.4 and T2.8 to see the sharpness changes. There is absolutley ZERO lighting on our subjects face in the opening. He is being lit by the reflection of the fountains bouncing off the building behind us, as well as the inside building lights. There was no key on him at all despite the look. He looks brighter here than he did in real life..
