  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

More news...

sounding cool...

thanks for the updates.

What is the basic approach to the optical finder? It's not a range finder I assume and I can't imagine you are putting in a physical mirrored shutter to look through the lens.

:eek6: :001_tt1:

Found it!

From the thread "Joystick suggestion for Epic and Scarlet"

I've been thinking of this for a while. What if there was a little handheld monitor that you could touch/drag a stylus across thereby controlling where the camera focuses. You could do fast racks by touching different points, or drag as someone is moving in the frame. This is such an obvious idea but I haven't heard anyone mention it. Doesn't sound too far fetched with smart lenses and lens mounts. What do ya think?

Don't worry.. Jim thought of that idea quite a few years ago, and will be a feature in Scarlet and Epic.

Beautifull, but that doesn't tell me WHEN i make my fund transfer :)

thats really big news.... will the new evf ship in the near future? that would be great... optical viewfinder sounds very interesting....

Not sure who started the 1080P spec (we didn't) for the Bomb EVF. I guess people just assume and then post.

It is an advancement because it is 12 bit color and has a faster scan rate.

Jim

I made the assumption myself, I think its because of this...

Guilty, Sorry for that. I read from red.com that crystal clear monitoring is 1080P, thought that included all of the new products. Again sorry for the mix up.

It's from your own specs. People are confusing themselves because the text reads, "Multiple independent video monitor outputs up to 1080p" next to a picture of the bomb EVF.

Looks like about a dozen people answered that already. Lol: I'm slow today:)

Sounds very exciting. However, when flying to IBC and you happen to carry the new EVF on the plane with you, I suggest you don't lable it as "the bomb" - people may get even more excited then I am.

It's like when the band "Garbage" went to perform in Russia. All their cases were labled "Garbage" - needless to say, nothing made it through customs.

No one else is curious about this?

I am curious, but not interested in purchasing an optical VF... so I am not worried about knowing yet.

You definitely caught my attention with the new memory options. What a wonderful day it would be if we could just insert any quality brand of 2.5" SATA solid-state hard drive into a RED camera module. :wink5: That way we could get cheap memory options anywhere and expand the GB storage size over time to fit our needs and our budget. Solid state memory is quickly advancing because of consumer demand and all the benefits that follow with solid-state drives. :001_cool:

I guess it was a bit ambiguous about the Bomb EVF. Hope it is clear now.

Jim

We will have the new Bomb EVF working for those who find us at the show tomorrow.. the new Bomb EVF also works with the RED ONE as Jim mentions.. so we will find the RED ONES on the show floor and give it a go for any that are interested.. it's worth seeing.

one of our cameras will be at the Zeiss booth, so I'm really looking forward to take a glimpse ;-)

see you in Amsterdam.

I doubt he has to worry about what he labels his stuff.

Love the idea of accessories working between the two epic/scarlet. I had hoped for it but never really new if it was the case. Do all accessories connect between the two without adjusting including lens mount options?
